Yo, Jim – how come it was OK for the Democrats to work on gay marriage, but you say that Republicans shouldn’t touch it?

Like I said:

You and I have some major differences, and I have gotten angry when the questions don’t get answered.  However, those have been put aside as this is a foundational issue of this Republic – I stand by your side on this.  Free Speech is just that – the Constitution never mandated that "disclosure" is a necessary component of that Speech (remember Publius back in the Constitutional Framers Day?)

Er, the below ain’t the above – from Tom Fahey’s Union Leader column

"If John Stephen, or anyone, tries to run in favor of returning the state to the discrimination of yesterday, I think they will find that the voters will tell them it’s more important to talk about jobs, the economy, efficiency in government, and providing a higher quality of education for our future," said Splaine, who is not running for re-election.

Oh Really?

NONE of the Democrats were dumb enough to actively campaign to "boost" the civil union legislation that they had just passed in the previous session to "gay marriage" status.  ‘Course not – they KNEW that if they did, they’d likely would never have been voted into office.  Yet, just as soon as the election dust cleared, the Democrats went full pedal to the metal on moving their Progressive and radical social agenda.  In the midst of the worst economy in decades, they spent much, much time on gay marriage when they should have concentrating on the budget and establishing a more friendly environment for NH based businesses to migrate here, flourish here, and start up here.  And in doing so, provide more and better jobs for our citizens.

Yeah, that work out EVAH so well, didn’t it?

Now, I believe in consistency – what is good for the goose is good for the gander.  For Jim to say what he did shows a quick snap back to partisanship – and right back to his protected social agenda.  I think that IF the Democrats had said that they were going to run on gay marriage, the voters would have told them the same thing – move on to the fiscal problems.

The word?  Hypocrite.

Unlike some in the Republican Party, I DO believe that social conservatives have as much of a right to voice their opinion and to vote that opinion as the Country Clubbers have in pooh-poohing that notion.  Laws are the public morality – WHY should I let a Democrat slap conservatives around on an issue that is near and dear to them – traditional marriage?

Ask yourself – if the issues that Jim enumerates now (i.e.,  "jobs, the economy, efficiency in government, and providing a higher quality of education for our future"), what’s his excuse for the Democrats spending so much time in NOT doing so?

Answer: self-serving

Harsh?  No.

And with the Democrats, who OWN State Government right now, running up such a Fantabulus defict that they have so worked so hard with so much ethereal smoke (no mirrors, as this budget is too insubstantial to be compared such a solid object as a mirror), are now telling us "don’t go there"?

November is coming – I can smell it from here…
