What:       Empty Holster Protest – NO firearms

By:           The Honorable Dan Itse (R-Fremont)

Background:

US Consitutional 2nd Amendment:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed

or NH Constitution 2-A rights:

The Bearing of Arms.] All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state.

FBI statistics show that gun crimes continued to head downward (e.g., murder rates are down 10%), this past year even gun sales have surged 12% nationally (approximately 9 million firearms sold).

So, this past Monday (Dec. 21), what did the Democrats that make up the majority of the Legislative Facilities Subcommittee decide to do?

Yeah, the logical thing for them – they reinstated a ban (along Party lines) that had been in place from 1996 to 2006 (which meant that firearms had been allowed before that) that NH Citizens can no longer be able to exercise their Constitutional Rights in the Legislative Office Building and the Upham Walker House.  Once again, the "Open and Transparency" Party failed to have it on the Agenda, no public input, and didn’t warn their Republican committee members that it was coming up.

Why did they do this (the wusses)?

The ban was reinstituted now after several lawmakers said they felt threatened during a vote last March relating to states’ rights, when about 15 armed individuals “shouted threats at members of the House from the gallery,” Hassan said. There were schoolchildren in the gallery at the time.

Right – and many Democrats felt "threatened" at town halls and TEA Party events as well.  God forbid that people get as vocal, as passionate, and "in your face" in their arguments against the Democrats as those against the Republicans showed their no-holds-barred reactions.

Senator Maggie Hassan (D-Exeter) even used the universal "It’s for the children" excuse:

The ban was reinstituted now after several lawmakers said they felt threatened during a vote last March relating to states’ rights, when about 15 armed individuals “shouted threats at members of the House from the gallery,” Hassan said. There were schoolchildren in the gallery at the time.

So, because of people were exercising their Rights during a discussion about supporting the 10th Amendment Right of States and Enumerated Powers, the Dems decided to take away yet another choice of law abiding citizens. Heck, people merely shouting at these liver-livied politicians is perceived as a threat!

Thus, Dan Itse (R-Fremont, who also sponsored that same States Right pushback that was under discussion at the time that the Democrats failed to pass and protect NH from the ever encroaching Federal Government claws) is calling for this protest against the NH Government limiting a choice by lawful citizens (e.g., the Democrat Leadership is automatically assuming the worst from the citizenry).

Penny Dean, general counsel for Gun Owners of New Hampshire, said the ban reflects the relationship between lawmakers and constituents.

The really sad thing is what those anti-freedom individuals are saying is they don’t trust and they fear their own constituents,

Truly said….they fear their constituents.  After what they have done the last two sessions, they ought to.  Not only do firearm owners exercise their 2nd Amendment Rights, they vote – all the time.

How many more things will the Democrats do this session to tick people off?

So, in the same spirit that the Dems have shown toward us, I ask this "how’d those gun bans work for Columbine, Virginia Tech, and Ft. Hood"?

They never learn that guns don’t kill people – people do.  Just ask Britain what their murder rate is with their gun ban (and now looking to ban steak knives?).

Chuckleheads all….

Don’t like this by the Democrats?  Go sign the petition!
