How to make most Americans dependent on Government forever

The Socialist Democrats know full well that times have changed.  It used to be that Americans were hard pressed to accept "charity" – it meant that they they were incapable of providing for their families.  In other words, a moral failure, a flop.  One only has to look at the Cash for Clunkers to see that if money is offered, it will be taken.  After all, the attitude is "what’s in it for me?  Oh, free money!".

Three Billion free bucks for consumers (er, so far, however, it seems that Big Government is stiffing the auto deals in that about only 2% have been paid their money – many in NY have now withdrawn from the program – this bodes well for Universal Healthcare how?)

And Obama and Reid and Pelosi and Waxman and Kennedy and the rest are going to use another $1.6 Trillion of your money (interest extra) to convince you that Universal Healthcare will be free to you!  How?  Subsidies!

In reality, the entirety of the congressional health care plan is a “public option.” It is all about one thing: putting government in control of health care.

In doing so, it will necessarily increase the government’s influence over some of the most morally significant decisions you will ever make about your own life and the lives of your loved ones. It will permanently diminish the freedom of your children and your grandchildren.

It will change America for the worse—perhaps forever.

The main instrument Congress and the administration will use to expand the government’s power over your health care is not a public health insurance provider, but federal subsidies.

Both the Senate and House versions of the health care bill would eventually put most Americans on the dole, converting middle-class Americans into lifelong welfare recipients and government dependents. It will do this with or without a public option…

Creates affordability credits to ensure that people with incomes up to 400 percent of federal poverty have affordable health coverage,” says an analysis of the bill published by the House Ways and Means Committee. “These credits are phased out according to a schedule defined in the act as individual and family incomes up to 400 percent of poverty and the credits apply only to Exchange-participating plans.”

Clipping out some of the money stats – Federal poverty levels / 400% of poverty level:

  • Family of 2:  $14,570 / $58,280
  • Family of 3:  $18,310 / $73,240
  • Family of 4:   $22,050 / $88,200
  • Family of 8:   $37,010 / $148,040 (think the Brady Bunch)
  • Family of 11: $48,230 / $192,920 (Ted Kennedy’s family growing up)

Context:

  • Median household income in America: $50,233 (2007)
  • 32.1% of American households earned more than $75,000
  • 20.2% earned more than $100,000.

So, all of these families could be among the richest in America, yet those FAR lower down the scale could be paying for their healthcare; you want to pay for the Kennedy clan?

The article sums it up well:

Americans can either be self-reliant and free or reliant on government and not free. Choose freedom. Kill health care reform.
