The Obama / Geithner power grab summary

This is, by far, the best summary of the Obama / Geithner "jihad against the market":

What President Obama is selling is the idea that government must be the final arbiter regarding how much risk-taking is appropriate in this allegedly free market economy. It is unclear, however, whether anybody short of God is in the position to intelligently make that call for every single actor in the market.

Snarky – the free market means exactly that: free.  What Obama wants is just not regulation but control.  They can’t even run government right – I cannot fathom the amount of hubris Obama has to believe that he will succeed where all other centralized economies have failed or merely subsisted.

But, with supporters like this, it shows the groupthink that Government is our Overlord and all that we have is merely what Big Government allows us to have, he may may suceed:

Charities are concerned that reduced deductions will translate into reduced donations, hurting nonprofits just as foundation and government support declines. But nonprofits opposing this progressive reform miss the big picture. Government, not private donors, should decide how tax dollars are allocated.

Get that?  Our money really is only what the Government allows us to keep; it is Government’s not ours.  Government takes preeminence, not individuals in this mindset.

Charities – stop yer belly achin’!
