UPDATED AND BUMPED – Upon the news that NH Democrat Party Chairman Ray Buckley is planning to run for Chair of the Democrat National Committee, I thought I’d make it a bit easier for der Google to help them out. Originally posted on Ocober 28, 2008.
…Well, we first heard about Ray Buckley, NH Democrat Chair, calling a Gold Star Mom a liar during a Jeb Bradley / Carol Shea debate – just before our radio show, Meet The New Press (podcast here to listen to our discussion). It also turned out that he called himself a Vietnam Vet at the time when he told that Gold Star Mom “we’ve all lost things” – a stunning thing to tell someone that their son is a “thing”.
Well, since then, the eblasts have been going out from the Moms network (and I was allowed to post one here). And a loyal reader (H/T: Mike), it seems that the MilBlog folks have now heard and have become angered – one of the lowliest forms of life in the MilBlog arena are those that attempt to pass themselves off as Vets when they are not. Well, as soon as I read the email (at about 2300 Zulu), I just “googled” Buckley’s name and hit on a Wikipedia entry (probably written by Buckley himself) and learned;
Buckley’s first involvement in Democratic Party politics was at age eight, when he campaigned for a gubernatorial candidate by making homemade signs.[2] As a twelve year old in 1972, he was volunteering for the Ed Muskie primary presidential campaign.
I don’t know how he passed himself off as eighteen years old when he was eight or nine years old and went to Vietnam as he told Debbie he did. Or maybe he’s just an opportunistic liar. In fact, a perusal of his Wikipedia entry turns up not one mention of ANY military service;
So, by the end of the war, at the ripe old age of 12, he was a Vet? Nice talking point, Ray!
Apparently this morning, there is an acknowledgement in New Hampshire online media and the Nassua Telegraph that the incident occurred. There’s also a YouTube video (you can search for it if you want) of Buckley saying that Hitler should have bombed The Hague, picking his nose and eating the result for the camera, saying “F**k America”.
And now he’s trying to pass himself off as veteran. Is this the guy Democrats of New Hampshire want in their fore?

There are quite a few things I will let slide, but disrespect to Gold Star Moms is not on the list. Debbie Lee sends a message about some reprehensible behavior by a leader of the New Hampshire Democratic Party.
Feel free to let him know just what you think about gutless choads like him. I wish I had time for a side trip to NH, but I am bound for the lair of the Lummox Murtha.
