Interviewer: “What’s your prediction for the fight?” Clubber Lang: “My prediction?” Interviewer: “Yes, your prediction.” Clubber Lang [looking into camera]: “Pain!”

These notable words were of course spoken by the infamous Clubber Lang, played by Mr. T. in Rocky 3.  The expression on his face, with beads of sweat pouring from his Mohawk-topped head revealing exposed veins seemingly about to burst, left no doubt  to the moviegoer as to what he had in mind for Sly Stallone’s affable underdog character, Rocky, in their upcoming heavyweight battle.

The Free Dictionary by Farlex defines the word “pain” as follows:

1. An unpleasant sensation occurring in varying degrees of severity as a consequence of injury, disease, or emotional disorder. 2. Suffering or distress.

Pain comes, of course, in many forms, and has many causes. There is medical pain caused by disease and injury. Other than taking medicines or further medical means, there is little that can be done for this sort of pain. Additionally, the patient’s original pain is often followed by the pain of the bill for the cure which can in some instances cause more harm than the disease itself. But I digress-
