“They want this contest to go on.” And so do I!

Hillary Clinton.Hillary Clinton

In a campaign email sent earlier today, Mrs. Clinton told supporters,

“There are some people out there who want to declare this race over now, before all the ballots have been counted or even cast. There are some who say they don’t know why I’m in this race. So let me tell you why I’m still running. I’m in this race for everyone who needs a champion. For the hardworking families who are losing sleep over gas prices and grocery costs and mortgage payments and medical bills — but who never lose that American can-do spirit and optimism.”

She continued,

“I’m in this race for the more than 16 million people like you who have supported me — for the people who have put their hearts into winning this race. You never gave up on me, and I’ll never give up on you. We are in the homestretch. After sixteen months, there are only three weeks left to compete in the final contests. With your help I’m going to keep fighting until every last American has a chance to be heard…”

I sincerely hope that Mrs. Clinton continues her fight for the Democratic presidential nomination. To do less would be a disservice to all those voters in Florida and Michigan that voted for her after the rest of the candidates abandoned them in that quaint notion of obeying the rules as set beforehand. She needs to stand up for cheaters and rule breakers everywhere. If not Mrs. Clinton and the Democrats, then who?  Said Hillary in a separate, post-West Virginia win email:

“It’s clear that the pundits declaring this race over have it all wrong. The voters in West Virginia spoke loud and clear — they want this contest to go on. I’m listening to the voters — and to you.”

You go girl!

Barack Obama.Obam Wright

As far as her remaining primary opponent goes, after careful analysis of the Obama message for America, I have boiled it down for those who don’t have the time to study such things: He’s going to

“…turn the page to the new chapter of hope in the book of change.”

Filling the desires of millions of Americans everywhere who seek inspiration from empty slogans and meaningless platitudes, Barack Obama is, for such persons, literally a godsend. Can Team Obama really fix what ails America? The freshman Illinois Senator and his swooning followers have the answer:

“Yes we can!”

See? Don’t you feel better already?
