So what’s so impossible about it?

UPI is reporting that some British unions are reporting that the simple moving of some cloth is "impossible".

Veils to be lifted at British airports

LONDON, Dec. 24 (UPI) — Immigration officers at British airports will begin lifting the veils of passengers to verify identity, The Scotsman said Sunday.

The order came after it was revealed that suspected killer Mustaf Jama flew from London’s Heathrow airport to Somalia using his sister’s passport. He is believed to have worn a woman’s niqab, which has just a slit for eyes, and was not required to lift the veil.

It seems that the Middle Easterners like the idea of hiding their identities – how often have we seen TV clips where fighters have their faces covered while fighting or brandishing weapons (or when in the West, protesting against Western ideals)?

The requirement has drawn criticism from unions claiming it will impose impossible demands on its members, particularly women, who would be the only ones allowed to look under the veils, the Scotsman said.

Somebody PLEASE tell me WHY this is impossible?  Is it that the cloth is attached to the skin by some type of Super Glue?  Is the veil some kind of protection for US for health reasons?

No, I am not looking to appear bigoted, but once again, we see that the ways of the Western world have been used against us with laughter (at least if I were Mustaf Jama, I’d be laughing my fool head off for putting one over on the "security" folks bound up fully by political correctness).

This is no longer an "innocent" age – niches, gaps, and holes have been exploited before and will be again.  WHY is it that we cannot start to fill those gaps?  Why is it that we are stopped dead by those espousing political correctness protestations (or in this case –  unions – those that do not wish to stand up)?

Home Secretary John Reid is planning to enforce the requirement before considering more stringent measures, a Home Office official said.

The Immigration Act 1971 requires everyone entering the Britain to satisfy an immigration officer’s inquiry regarding nationality and identity. In instances when it is not possible to remove a veil or other garment at immigration control, the person is taken to a private area for verification.

Garments, I can understand – privacy is needed.  But even Muslim scholars do not agree on the applicability of the veil according to Muslim law.  While we in the West go to great lengths to accommodate religious practices, when it comes to protecting a nation-state (or flying passengers), then some religious practices either need to be modified or security needs to be insistent in protecting those around them.

If people wish to wear the veil, then they will have to be willing to subjugate them selves to slower times through the lines and be prepared for intensive searches.

Good call, John Reid!
