PARIS (Reuters) – France has decided to pull its special forces out of Afganistan after a NATO-led stabilisation force extended operations to the whole country, the French defense ministry said on Sunday.
The Americans, Dutch, Candians, and the Brits have been complaining that other NATO governments (and not their soldiers) won’t allow their forces fight where the Taliban have been operating. Basically, they have become garrison forces, not doing a whole lot except for taking up space.
Now the French are pulling the troops that have seen combat out…..and I would call this a retreat.
History continues to repeat itself.
