Mike Rogers

Mike is a British import of almost 40 years, who was a conservative in the days of Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan. A staunch constitutionalist, Mike espouses all good causes toward the libertarian side of conservative - EG he who governs least, governs best. He believes that the Declaration, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights mean what they say, and that candidates for office should take their oaths of office seriously. Here to defend, without irony "Your rights as Englishmen from distant and tyrannical government", Mike knows whereof he speaks and exhorts all US citizens to live, breathe and teach our history and our constitution.

Dispatch from AFP’s “Defending the American Dream” #7 – The Judge

About halfway back in the HUGE dining hall during judge Andrew’s speech.Good, fiery, but standard, stump speech. Natural rights, stamp acts, alien and sedition acts, patriot act, warrantless searches, keeping government off the backs of the people, couple of courtroom anecdotes. Great red meat, but nothing you can’t get by listening to a week of …

Dispatch from AFP’s “Defending the American Dream” #8 – Dinesh D’Souza on how European Colonialism shaped Obama

Great walk through colonial history and why part of the world resents European colonial powers, especially the UK, and how this translates into a resentment in certain parts of the world for the USA, even though the USA has never been a colonial power. Further touched on the title of Obama’s book and the carefully …

Dispatch from AFP’s “Defending the American Dream” #1 – On the new allegations of Cain luring a junior staffer to his apartment.

Am here in Washington at American’s for Prosperity’s Defending the American Dream Summit.  Since Skip was unable to get down here, I thought I send back some thoughts picked up from listening to the speakers and the attendees.  Here is Part 1: When I read the story at NRO "Sources Detail Cain Allegations", I had …

Dispatch from AFP’s “Defending the American Dream” #2 – Uncle Tom’s TEA Party!

The TEA party spreads in quirky but effective ways. Please meet Sakina, the founder of "Uncle Tom’s Tea Party" (picture mailed separately), a vivacious non-racist from Bethesda, MD, who voted for John McCain in 2008, because she’d done her homework and could not stomach putting the country through fundamental transformation. Proud to be black, but …

Dispatch from AFP’s “Defending the American Dream” #3 – Thoughts on Mitt Romney’s speech

Good speech, especially the parts where he contrasted Solyndra, founded on government money and with a factory built like a Taj Mahal, with Staples, which he helped to found, with their initial HQ in the back half of an old food warehouse. Listed real cuts, and promised to hold government spending to less than 20% …

Dispatch from AFP’s “Defending the American Dream” #4 – Tidbits from Dr. Betsy McCaughey on Obamacare and the Constituation

Betsy McCaughey brought her usual prop of the bound and annotated copy of the healthcare bill, which looked more dog-eared and well-thumbed than ever, and again brought the room to its feet with her feisty descriptions of how the bill shreds our constitutional rights in oh so many ways. Ken Cucinelli then took the stage …

Occupy Wall Street – I guess as long as they support you, they can be 1%ers…

Embarrassing question, I know.  But hey, never stopped me before.  Most of the unions have endorsed the OWS movement and a large number of them showed up for the "peaceful" Occupy Oakland (ok, ok, the riot) whereby the OWSers decided to go all in and all anarchist and pretty much, act like a mob ("This …
