Florida Governor Ron Desantis is a serious contender and favorite for a GOP run for president in 2024, and he has his political response to COVID19 to thank for that. He not only did less, but he also kept liberal cities in Florida for doing more.
There is no one, no one group or even “groups of groups” that could effectively handle the billions of economic decisions that are made daily (or even hourly) by the 320 million residents of America.
What is the right response to lockdowns? Lockdowns do indeed have costs. Some are financial and some of them are personal and health-related. There’s more than one way to wreck a life. For example:

This is what happens when elected representatives believe THEY know better what others need than those others KNOW they need. It’s also clear that the general public, in ways both large and small, can figure out a “system” and how to exploit its weaknesses.
