Smacking RGGI Around

David Stevenson, writing at NH Journal, shares a recent report by The Analysis Group which “…just released their review of the effects of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), and they give it an A+.” If you’re not the guessing sort, there are a lot of issues with the report, which is not surprising because (as Stevenson …

Virginia Considers Joining RGGI Money Laundering Scheme

It looks like Virginia needs more revenue. They are plotting to join the Regional Greenhouse Gass Initiative (RGGI). It also has returned $2.8 billion to those states from the auctioning of permits allowing power plants to emit carbon dioxide. That money mostly goes to renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, which helps the environment and …

N.H. Republicans Aim to Divert RGGI Funds with Koch-Backed Bill.

I was poking around the internet when I stumbled across a Feb. 2015 article on ClimateWire about New Hampshire’s participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). RGGI is a multi-state coalition that forces power producers to buy credits based on emissions. They then pass that cost on to ratepayers (your employer, your family, you) …

Shouldn’t NH Move the RGGI Money to the Road Repair Budget?

Back on Feb 17 I made what I thought was a very sensible suggestion. If Global warming still causes increased snowfall… …seems to me the tens of millions in RGGI emissions reduction plunder we get annually would be  better spent offsetting the cost of snow removal. I don’t think they listened, but I have another, …

Shouldn’t NH Move The RGGI Money to the Plow Budget?

If Global warming still causes increased snowfall… …And New Hampshire is going to continue to scam the entire state with a broad based tax on energy so they can use that “revenue” to counteract the impact of global warming… …seems to me the tens of millions in RGGI emissions reduction plunder we get annually would …

Why Did We Need RGGI?

With the recent approval of significant electric rate increases that will allow PSNH to recover some $67 million dollars a year in costs related to legislated state energy mandates (NH Renewable Standard and the RGGI tax), having this fall into my in-box could not have been more fortuitous. From the journal Earth System Dynamics billed …

GrokTV Special Interview-NH State Senator Andy Sanborn (District 9) – Question 3: RGGI. What happened and why RGGI didn’t get deep sixed?

One of the hot button issues this past legislative session (the last two years here in NH) was to get rid of RGGI – Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.  Simply put, it is an aggregation of States here in the Northeast that decided to put a broad based carbon tax on anyone using electricity in those …

Data Point – US CO2 emissions down; So NOW will NH Senate President Bragdon and Majority Leader Bradley let RGGI die?

CO2 (that pollutant that really isn’t one) is supposedly going to kill us all off due to the global warming climate change it causes (even though water vapor is a much higher effect gas).  Screw that, its political existence is derived only due to its ability to generate a new revenue stream for greedy politicians …

Another Whack at RGGI

..what I find particularity perverse is that “Republican” Senators in New Hampshire could be tying themselves to the Massachusetts compromise as the tipping point at which staying in RGGI would then no longer make sense.
