Did New Hampshire’s Civil Engineers Just Ask for a Sales or Income Tax?

by Steve MacDonald April 5, 2017

New Hampshire’s local coven of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE-NH) gave the state a C- on ‘infrastructure.’ The grade was determined by a team of professional engineers from across New Hampshire who assessed 12 categories of infrastructure. And they found that much of the state’s infrastructure requires investment and upgrades to keep up with […]

“Take the money and run…”

by Skip February 16, 2016

With all due respect to the Steve Miller band (…take the money and run…), Carrier, is.  Yes, go for one of those seemingly “bottomless pit” grants after promising one thing – but just like Solyndra (the failed solar panel maker that Obama gave $500 million to and then ran away (albeit by going under)), we […]

Is ‘Free Solar’ A Trap?

by Steve MacDonald August 24, 2015

Every week there is another offer in the mailbox for a free solar installation. Power your home. Pay zero to the power companies. Sell power back. It’s a Win-win-win (win-win…win). Or is it? Columnist Sam Asano, writing in the Manchester Union Leader, pointed his flashlight at the offers and discovered something nasty. The first and the largest […]

GrokTALK! – Electronic Health Records – A Good Thing Gone Wrong

by Steve MacDonald March 17, 2015
Thumbnail image for GrokTALK! – Electronic Health Records – A Good Thing Gone Wrong

We discuss Dr. Singer’s recent article in the Wall Street Journal and the problem with electronic Health Records (EHR’s).  And the problem isn’t the EHR’s, it the government take over and how arbitrary Federal mandates and central planning have made them less effective.  We also cover some of the false presumptions people have about them. […]

Abound Solar Bankruptcy Leaves Toxic Wasteland for Taxpayers To Clean Up

by Steve MacDonald October 31, 2013
Thumbnail image for Abound Solar Bankruptcy Leaves Toxic Wasteland for Taxpayers To Clean Up

A Solar Plant didn’t just go bankrupt after wasting millions in Democrat backed Green energy stimulus, it left a hazardous wasteland for taxpayers to clean up as well… The Abound Solar plant, which got $400 million in federal loan guarantees in 2010, when the Obama administration sought to use stimulus funds to promote green energy, […]

Is Senator Shaheen Your Senator…or Just the Democrat Party Senator?

by Steve MacDonald April 8, 2013

New Hampshire US Senator Jeanne Shaheen is not here to talk to any little people that are not her little people.   When asked a question about more spending stimulus, as recommended by President Obama, that would be more debt spending at the expense of our children and their children, she couldn’t even be bothered to respond. I guess she’s […]

Obama Promises – when does this expiration date come up for renewal?

by Skip December 21, 2012

Pray tell, if he can’t keep his promise of better results on unemployment on a massive $1 Trillion Stimulus, what is his promise on the newest $50 Billion one he wants as part of the Fiscal Cliff? (H/T: AEI)

You’ve Heard of Make Work Jobs? How About No Work Jobs?

by Steve MacDonald October 22, 2012

Four more years of this?  It’s the Democrat Potemkin Jobs Plan.  We give  foreign companies US tax dollars to open a building for people to show up at to do nothing.  Now that is what you call a Green Job.  Forward!

President Obama Inherited an Economy Coming Out of a Recession – Yes, You Read That Right.

by Scott Morales October 13, 2012

For years now, and especially recently, we’ve been awash in rhetoric that claims that President Obama inherited a recession and that without spending $831,000,000,000 in stimulus money we don’t have the United States would enter into a depression. The president’s door-to-door acolytes continue to hose the unlucky that answers the knock with claims that the […]

The Question For Our Time

by Scott Morales August 21, 2012

In the historic Presidential tradition of leaving phrases imbued into the mind of the citizenry to echo for generations, one of the phrases for this era is crystallizing.  Remember Kennedy’s,  “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”, or Reagan’s,  “Mr. Gorbachev, Tear down this wall”, […]

Obama Fail Spotlight: I Will Go Line By Line to Remove Wasteful Earmarks…

by Steve MacDonald July 19, 2012

If you missed this post, there is a link to a blog that is compiling 1001 reasons to vote against Obama. There are at least 600 reasons so far.  But as I reviewed the first 100, which I included in my linked post, I came across a classic Obamaism that deserved special attention. The promise […]

Facebook Doodlings – Why is it the job of the Feds to rehab 35,000 schools?

by Skip December 26, 2011

Yet another instance of spending time writing somewhere else instead of writing here, so, am double purposing yet again.  This thread from FB was from Sept (yeah, catching up as always) when Obama wanted to spend $25 Billion (more of what we don’t have) to rehab up to 35,000.  Once again the question must be […]

Obama Finally Builds Bi-Partisan Coalition!!!

by Steve MacDonald October 11, 2011

I may be jumping the gun here, but I believe that Mr. Obama will achieve that which he has been calling for for years. Democrats and Republicans will come together today to form a bi-partisan coalition…

Where is Democrat Support for Obama’s Jobs Bill?

by Don October 1, 2011

A real jobs plan would create an environment that encourages investment in America, but the President’s job plan doesn’t do this. The President’s plan empowers the administration to pick winners and losers, which government does poorly, and to dispense money to political supporters. The President apparently believes he can convince the gullible, the economically ignorant, the envious, and of course the beneficiaries that his plan, despite previous experience, would be beneficial.

Bill Blocked By Dem Senators Beholden to Big Oil and The Rich

Obama’s “Bride Of Stimulus” Speech

by Steve MacDonald September 9, 2011

I wasn’t going to bother, but when you have a title like “Bride of Stimulus” you have to run with it. And that is exactly what that speech was. To quote every democrat’s greasy palm card from 2007/2008, what we have here is…”the same old failed polices of the past.” Or what I referred to on twitter as “same old whore new dress.”

US House kills TARP

by Steve MacDonald March 11, 2011

I’d be interested to hear the rhetoric from Political consultant and former congressman Paul Hodes who claimed he was against TARP but voted to spend paid back TARP funds on other left-wing stimuli.

Happy Thanksgiving eh?

by Steve MacDonald October 11, 2010

In recognition of finding the Bahama’s, public service union employees all across the fruited plain, get a paid day off. I’m not sure we need to “explore” this any further to get to the nexus of thought on the why’s and what for’s in this decision making process.

Can You See The Signs?

by Steve MacDonald September 15, 2010

The Shahodesheaporter New Hampshicrat trio gave us the stimulus, all the waste and crony handouts buried inside it, the stupid rules that knee-capped job regular creation as only bureaucracy can, and the debt. Oh yeah–they spent 20 million on signs to tell us they were spending billions on…nothing.

Another Biden Three Letter Word…Failure

by Steve MacDonald September 6, 2010

Underestimating, miscalculating, failing to anticipate, these are all excuses used by the democrats for a long caravan of failures that are more the product of blind trust by left-wing sheeple in the judgment of an administration that has been way over its head on every issue…since day one

Under Norelli’s Rule

by Steve MacDonald August 18, 2010

Yesterday Terie Norelli celebrated my Birthday by taking to the pages of the Keene Sentinel to talk about what a great job the New Hampshire democrat party has been doing with the state.  One of the things she’d like you to believe is that they have created (or saved?) a job friendly environment that has […]

Harry Reid’s Innocent Victims

by Steve MacDonald July 6, 2010

They are making hay and BS sandwiches over at Boo-Hoo Hampshire, this time about the latest unemployment benefits stalemate.   Dean Barker–the Boo Hoo Guru–had begun by waxing on the CBS news coverage on the latest unemployment extension debate when he decided to lament (or perhaps invent) 30 years of GOP policy crushing the little guy, […]

Why The Stimulus Had To Fail

by Steve MacDonald June 16, 2010

It’s simple economics.  Government money comes from taxpayers.  The more government spends the more it relies on taxpayers to pay for its spending.  The less money taxpayers have the smaller the economy will be the fewer jobs there are, which means less income, less taxes, more debt.  The stimulus, the huge budget bills, the massive […]

NEA-NH loves the ARRA

by Steve MacDonald February 22, 2010

NEA New Hampshire is a-gush over the anniversary of the Stimu-less bill and they are not afraid to show it.  According to NEA-NH Insider the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)… …represents a huge win for education thanks to unprecedented funding increases targeted to local districts.  ARRA also included increases for Title I, stabilization funding, […]
