Just closing the loop on our coverage: former Broward County Sheriff Scott Isreal challenged his suspension by Governor Ron Desantis. A review of that act suggested it may not be justified, but the Florida Senate has weighed in, and it’s not good for the former Sheriff.
A bit of housekeeping. Back on October 15th, we shared the news that former Broward County Sheriff, Scott Israel, could get his job back. Israel oversaw the epic failure leading up to and after the Parkland shooting.
Scott Israel was the Sheriff who oversaw Broward County. The home of the Parkland shooting. The epic failure of government at every level to protect people it had disarmed. Gov. Ron DeSantis removed Israel from office, but a formal review could put him back on the job.
After hearing gunshots and doing nothing to save lives during the Parkland Shooting, officer Scot Peterson disappeared himself. But he will need to come out of hiding. He has been arrested and may be facing charges of felony neglect.
The tragedy that would become the Parkland massacre happened a year ago today. It was preventable. The barriers to prevention were the result of incompetent government at multiple levels.
