Lesser Evil – The Slow Road To HELL

by Mike April 15, 2014

After Rick’s post this morning, I couldn’t resist. Lesser Evil voters – you know who you are – I shall post periodic reminders between now and September. It may take a little longer to get to Hell by voting for the lesser evil, you may get to ride there in a luxury handbasket, but arrive […]

The GOP Establishment: Craven Wussies, Really Dumb, or Just Democrats?

“Cossetted, craven, wussies or just contemptible charlatans?” That’s how I initially started this post. But things changed as I was writing it. I’ve been mostly absent from my perch here at the Grok due to other pressing responsibilities, but this past week, against the backdrop of the previous week, just made me wretch and I […]

I don’t know what (or who) to believe anymore

by Tom January 22, 2014

Ted Cruz.  Love what he says, loved his Senate filibuster, and love his recent voting record.  And I hate writing this story. But something is wrong with the picture.  And it feels eerily familiar. This story about Cruz and his wife has been out there for about 5 months but it got by me.  Fortunately, others […]

John Boehner – ‘I Told You So’

Then minority leader John Boehner speaks before the House the night of ObamaCare in that chamber;  whatever you think of him now, or wheter or not he has since stepped on his own toes (and I think he has)…when it comes to the ACA and what happened after Democrats rammed it though, he had it […]

Boehner on Obama’s Bright Idea to Add More Aggesive Regulations on Power Plants

by Steve MacDonald June 23, 2013

I’d love to know where Senator Greene Shaheen, and Carol-McLane-Shea-Kuster stand on this energy-price spiking, job killing, economy punishing top down executive mandate on the way from Obama?  Seeing as they are all slaves to the green energy industrial complex and consistently support market distorting policies that favor them (and Obama is their guy) the […]

Sticks and stones?

by Skip December 23, 2012

Via the Washington Examiner (Philip Klein): Mr. Obama repeatedly lost patience with the speaker as negotiations faltered. In an Oval Office meeting last week, he told Mr. Boehner that if the sides didn’t reach agreement, he would use his inaugural address and his State of the Union speech to tell the country the Republicans were […]

Is the GOP Headed for Implosion?

by Tom August 16, 2012

House Speaker John Boehner took part in an interview with Fox News this week and one of the topics, invariably, was VP-pick, Paul Ryan.  During the interview, Greta Van Susteren challenged Boehner about Ryan’s votes for TARP, the auto bailouts, and two 2008 stimulus programs, asking how, as a Conservative, he politically “sells that”. Boehner […]

It’s A Knock Out!

by Steve MacDonald January 6, 2011

OK.  It’s not threatening vehicular manslaughter, but I can see the progressives filling their diapers in rage on this one. They do so love Nancy.  Thankfully this is the work of Jay Leno so if anyone is sewn so tight that they are actually offended by it, call him to complain.

Obama’s Big Boehner

by Steve MacDonald September 22, 2010

There are very few people who still believe the House will not flip–it is mostly a matter of how many seats. But the people who will make this shift possible are not entirely enamored of Boehner who is a career politician and whom many suspect will sell them out to make deals if given the opportunity. If the latter is accurate, given the odds that the new wave of Republicans will be less inclined to make deals, Boehner is the best hope Obama has, given a bad situation, of having any leverage whatsoever with that caucus.
