With hurricane season over, the cult will need to find something else to worry us all about. Wildfires weren’t as bad as predicted, nor were tornadoes or any other natural phenomenon. Flooding was crazy in the spring, especially around here, but did you know it’s been in decline?
Following the recent flooding throughout Vermont this summer, the state very proudly touted a response program that offers victims who lost or suffered damage to their cars the opportunity to replace them with an electric vehicle. Not an internal combustion engine vehicle, just an electric vehicle.

The Vermont Press is “flooded” with stories about the heavy rain and damage to livelihoods and lives as a result. Residents are sharing stories spun by the media with the typical bias, ignorance, and incomplete research we’ve come to expect, especially on weather events.
The headline in VT Digger read, “Officials issue warnings about flood-related scams,” and, “Natural disasters make people more vulnerable to scams.” Surely, they do, and Vermonters should indeed be on the lookout for those praying on people’s fears and emotions in the wake of the tragic flooding so many areas of our state are experiencing.
Early in the year, I prepped the battlespace for what typically happens around New England. Everyone yells “drought” and “climate change!” But by year’s end, we have our average annual precip or more. This year has been wet. You could say there’s been a systemic lack of drought.
One of the main reasons why you will rarely hear about converting the basement to additional living space is because basements are, by their very nature, prone to flooding.
