“Profiting off the Anxieties and White Guilt of Northern Liberals”

In the wake of two recent posts on the subject of white guilt here and here this seemed a suitable remark to share.

As Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who’s also been smeared by the SPLC as an “anti-Muslim extremist,” has noted, the group these days is invested more in “profiting off the anxieties and white guilt of Northern liberals” than in actually upholding civil rights.

Jeff Sessions has ordered a review to ensure the U.S. Department of Justice is not partnered with the SPLC in any way, shape, or form and with good reason. The SPLC has become a hate group, smearing organizations, and individuals without fear until recently.

Ellen Kolb covered the SPLC’s 3.375 Million dollar payout to the Quilliam Foundation and its founder, Maajid Nawaz after it labeled them a hate group.

Ellen adds, that,

The Quilliam Foundation is described in Wikipedia as “a London-based left-of-centre think tank that focuses on counter-extremism, specifically against Islamism, which it argues represents a desire to impose a given interpretation of Islam on society.”

News of the settlement was greeted eagerly by Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, another of SPLC’s targets. In 2012, a domestic terrorist attacked FRC headquarters in Washington, D.C., after “he identified the Family Research Council as anti-gay on the Web site of the Southern Poverty Law Center.”

The fact that it was a Muslim organization is amusing if not ironic. SPLC made money and lost money on bashing anti-muslim extremism.

I don’t think the lawsuit or the DoJ’s decision will inspire them to return to actual civil rights action. I doubt they even have anyone on staff who isn’t convinced that it’s a “civil right” to hate white people. But this will end another angle on an Obama era practice that involved using associations with federal agencies to funnel tax dollars to favored groups.

Civil Rights groups, environmental groups, any approved left-wing cause, could file for (and quite easily get) federal grants. But if they needed bigger money all they had to do was file a lawsuit in federal court or against a specific agency, probably proposed by someone in the Obama government. The group would file for damages and the Obama Admin would basically concede the case and write them a check.

The Trump administration ended that game from on high early on but The Swamp is a big place. There are thousands (if not tens of thousands) of Obama holdovers still playing this and other games to funnel money into “the right sort of” pockets.

Officially disconnecting the Department of Justice from the SPLC adds a layer of protection against such foolishness in the future. At least while Mr. Trump is in office.

Now, what about all those other offices and agencies spending our money down in DC?
