Margaret Drye – Dedicated to Our Community

For almost four decades, I have been responding to Plainfield and Cornish homes and roads as an EMT with Cornish Rescue.  As a result, I have seen the opioid epidemic up close, and I have also seen the many medical, physical, and financial challenges our senior citizens face.

I’ve seen how over-regulation is making it difficult for small towns to staff volunteer fire and emergency departments.  It is also stifling businesses who want to hire but need to jump through licensing hoops.

As a 13-year board member of the Hanover Co-op Food Store, I gained a real appreciation for small farms and locally-owned businesses and how they help keep money in our community.

After home-schooling all nine of our children through high school, I’ve learned that one size doesn’t fit all in education.  There should be room in the educational landscape for alternatives and innovation, including, but not limited to:  private, charter, and home schools; tech schools, community colleges, and dual enrollment opportunities; and internships and school/business collaboration.

I helped start New England’s first Crisis Pregnancy Center back in 1982, and have served as a 4-H leader for more than 25 years.

I believe that representatives should be active members of their communities so that they can represent them well.  No one has all the answers to the challenges facing New Hampshire, but I have a long history of service at the town, county, and regional level, and would like to take that experience to Concord.
