Why Democrats Don’t Trust You With Guns…

The typical Democrat reaction to anything relating to guns tells you a lot about them. Human beings filter things through the lens of their personal worldview and firearms are a great example of this.

The Democrat narrative claims that people can’t be trusted with firearms because at any moment they might snap and shoot everyone around them. In New Hampshire, a common theme when Liberals are trying to restrict firearms by limiting the places they can be carried is the old ‘Blood in the Streets’ narrative.

We can’t let them (continue to carry firearms here or there) it’ll be a wild west shoot out! Blood in the Streets!

It never happens but they do it anyway. Why?

Because Democrats are either so unstable or the people they associate with are that they can’t imagine trusting any of them not to snap and shoot everyone around them were they armed.

Yes, when you get higher up the food chain, there is a specific disarmament agenda that is about power and tyranny, but closer to the ground, we’re talking about sheep and parrots mirroring not just the talking points but expressing internalizations based on experience.

For a larger view, when they huddle together, we get Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, and Antifa, all recent violent expressions of liberal narratives. The anti-globalist movement, the anti-free-market anti-capitalist movements, are run by violent leftists who like fire and throwing bricks.

These people break windows, tear down monuments, smash stars on the Walk of fame, start fires, and think violence is suitable to silence speech they oppose. They wield incendiary language to stifle opponents. Smear them, slur them, insult them, and threaten their lives and property.

They believe that hating is not hating if you hate the correct group and racism and bigotry are a form of resistance to tyranny when it’s people with whom they all disagree.

These are the same people who can’t trust you with a gun which by extension gives a force-majority to the state they just happen to worship as the cure for all ills.

On the other side, we have the pro-gun crowd. Not the alt-right because the alt-right is just as into identity politics as the entire left and all the narrowminded tendencies that come with that.  I’m talking Libertarians, Tea Party, Constitutionist, Conservatrains, and Conservatives. Smaller government, more local control, greater transparency, more personal liberty.

These folks know people make mistakes, but they trust other human beings and believe that people who value property rights, human life, and the rule of law will get along just fine armed to the teeth or otherwise (and yes, you get to decide which). Should you wander off that reservation, civic intervention will limit the damage which is a risk they are willing to accept in exchange for the benefits of enhanced liberty and personal freedom.

In fact, you can’t expect to have either liberty or freedom from tyranny without an armed law-abiding populace.

Federalist No. 46, written by James Madison, …addressed “the advantage of being armed, which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation.”

These people carry firearms not to force their will on others but to keep others from forcing their will upon them or their families, neighbor, or even strangers should the need arise.

The defense of the communities in which they live is first of all the responsibility of the citizens themselves. Self-government dies on the vine if citizens forget or neglect this responsibility. It can never be solely the preoccupation of government, not for a people determined to retain their self-government, i.e., their liberty, according to God’s will. – Alan Keyes

These are the people who rally peacefully and pick up after themselves on the way home. They carry all-day, every day, experiencing the entire gamut of human emotion and whatever life and society may bring but never once use that as an excuse to unholster a firearm. Only for defense, never for attack, and only when life is truly threatened.

Democrats who know and understand these people quite often carry themselves because they get it. But we don’t hear much from them.

We hear from liberal party leaders deliberately searching for a way to disarm the populace to advance government power or the unhinged wing-nut liberals who should never be permitted to handle a firearm because they are the very thing they claim to fear most.

They are about attack, not defense. Violence is a weapon to get your way, To impose your will on others.

They are also quite often the same people who pretend that the second amendment is about hunting.

The Second Amendment exists not to put a target on the backs of deer and rabbits, but to give notice to tyrants, whether they hold government office or hold people up at ATMs, that violent consequences may await those who would deprive others of their rights.   -Sean Davis, writing at the Federalist

But in moments of honesty, they will admit that they don’t want you armed for hunting either. They don’t want you armed at all. Because they don’t know anyone they would trust with a loaded gun. And as if to prove themselves insane they follow that up with insisting that they are willing to trust the government – preferably made up of and run by people who think and act like them, so that those people will impose their will on you.
