ICYMI – On June 13th We Reached 30,000 Published Posts

30000 postsOn June 13th, 2018 GraniteGrok.com published its 30,000th post. Yes, Thirty-Thousandth.

You probably missed this because we did. It came and went amidst the daily bustle of hobby-blogging around jobs and family and life. Blame politics because as it has increasingly encroached on our hobbies, jobs, family, and lives, we’ve been here to chronicle it.

Well. Not ‘It’ so much as our opinions and observations about ‘it.’

I can lay claim to almost a third of them but my time here didn’t begin until late February, 2010. Prior to that, I blogged in several places but most notably at NHInsider where several thousand posts got swallowed into the ether. There may be a backup someplace, but I couldn’t tell you where. No, I looked there. I found about a dozen.

Skip has over 12,000; maybe it’s over 13,000 now? He’ll correct me in comments. He started this little journey back in 2006 and as the tale goes, didn’t expect anyone to read what he or Doug had to say. They did.

Some 30,000-plus posts later and we’re preparing for the next step in the journey. What we like to call Grok 3.0. (You are reading this on 2.0; 1.0 was built on a much older platform just like the site’s co-founder.)

We are adding new writers, new technology, adding more video, hope to re-start GrokTALK! and have more event coverage. Skip just wrote a very lengthy description about what that might look like here if you are interested.

It’s not just a hobby anymore. Not exactly. Things are changing.

One thing that will remain the same is the founding principles through which we filtered the first 30,000 published posts. Those aren’t going anywhere.

And that, ladies and gentleman, is a hard thing to come by these days and I suspect it is not just why we are still here but why we continue to grow. And that’s all on you.

Thanks for reading. We appreciate it.

And we hope to continue to be worth your time and attention. And yes, we know you’ll let us know if we’re not.

So, here’s to the next 30,000 and all the disgruntled progressives (on both sides of the aisle) who will make them not just possible but necessary.
