We reported on this upcoming event last week. Today, the New Hampshire Union Leader has some reporting on Executive Council (EC) District 4 candidate Jane Cormier during the event.

A former state representative for Belknap Country’s District 8, Cormier said she plans to emphasize constitutionally conservative principles with any nominations and appointments put before the council, including a state Supreme Court position that will open in 2019.
“Protecting the Second Amendment will be a big thing across the board,” said Cormier of her litmus test for appointments. “We have a great constitution in New Hampshire and if we’re going to be pushing New Hampshire first, let’s make sure that the people who are heading the agencies or sitting on our courts actually understand liberty issues and aren’t legislating from the bench.”

If you’re not familiar with Jane, she is an occasional contributor on these pages which (in our opinion) makes her the conservative candidate in the race.

Cormier, who is challenging former Manchester mayor Ted Gatsas for the District 4 Republican nomination, said she chose to hold the event at Riley’s because of a passion for gun rights.

EC District 4 constituents may appreciate that, but I think they’ll be more interested in her fiscal conservatism.

As a dedicated conservative, Jane looks forward to bringing fiscal oversight to the Executive Council. Jane is ready to take on the challenge of bringing her message of small, accountable government to the communities of Executive Council District 4. Jane plans on using her “voice” to champion common sense solutions to the fiscal challenges we face here in the Granite State while supporting New Hampshire infrastructure and job creation here in our state.

Jane’s not part of the connected political infrastructure. She’s not going to vote for or against something because the political establishment or the donor class wants it that way.

When it comes to overseeing how your dollars are spent by your government, that may be the arrow in the quiver that matters most.
