and stray from your original mission in life, unions:

This is basically Scott Walker on a national level. Of course, if the unions provided value, they wouldn’t have to force people to pay dues.

UPDATE: let me add this which I bookmarked earlier:

Just had a brief text chat with someone who says their sources claim that 20% of public employee union members will leave in the wake of Janus v. AFSCME. That would be a significant hit to the unions’ pocketbooks, but the bigger hit will come later, as new employees simply refuse to join up in the first place.

That latter part will soon be me.  I also think 20% is going to be low, REAL low, of the current union members that will bail simply because they will view it as a poor use of their valuable money. Just like in Wisconsin where it has been BRUTAL on the unions.  Hey, they brought this upon themselves!

Oh, and this whopper?

…take away the freedom of working people to join together in strong unions to speak up for themselves and their communities.

The unions are going to wail this all day long – and today’s decision does no such thing.  If people WANT to join a union, or STAY in a union, more power to them and good luck to them.  This decision enhances the freedom of those that DON’T wish to be COERCED into joining something they don’t want to.  It is the unions that have been totalitarian about this and for them to cry “woe is us” is about on the same level as the guy who murders his parents and appeals to the judge “have mercy upon me as I am now an orphan”.
