Tales from the SDGANH

Ah yes, another series like my Tales from the Budcomm.  SDGANH (logo coming soon) is the School District Governance Association for NH; consider it the Conservative / Libertarian alternative to the Socialist / Collective leaning School Board Association of NH (who have already made it clear they will brook no dissent or competition from the Right).  Today is their Annual meeting and I’ll have a few bon mots as it goes along. This is their second Annual meeting (at the Nackey Loeb School of Education).

If you are a Conservatarian (or leaning) and on a School Board or a Budget Committee dealing with a School Board, this is the place to be you need to be here. If you think that the School Board is supposed to represent the taxpayers instead of being boosters of the Superintendent, you need to be here.  If you know that you are supposed to be representing your taxpayers and not just the school system / SAUs, you need to be here.

Remember (and this is my opinion only and not the SDGANH): Children don’t deserve a public education; they DO deserve a publicly funded education where the parents (and not based merely on a zip code) direct their childrens’ education.

Update: Yes, I was just voted in as a member with one person, a good conservative state rep, stating, in jest, “Skip Murphy?  Never heard of him.”  On a serious note, it was sobering to hear about the number of policies that they are proposing, both to for School Boards and for the NH State Legislature, and how common sense they are.  Seriously, these have to be proposed?  One would think they’d just be in place already.

What is also clear is that while the SDGANH is growing, they have ambitious goals.  So take my words from above: you need to be here.

Update II: “I nominate the crazy, loud mouth in the red hat for Communications Chair”.  Yeah, now I’m the Comms Chair for the SDGANH.  My response was “be careful for what you vote for”.
