BudgetThat was my response to this:

I guess the GTC mailing must have hit a nerve!!

because of this (reformatted, emphasis mine):

To The Daily Sun,

The town has received several inquiries about a recent mailing by the Gilford Taxpayers Coalition.  Please be advised the information being distributed IS NOT AFFILIATED with the Town of Gilford or the Board of Selectmen or the Office of the Town Clerk-Tax Collector. Accordingly, the town neither endorses nor condones the content of the mailing. The official recommendations of the Board of Selectmen, Planning Board and the Budget Committee are set forth in several warrant articles as noted on the ballot. No other positions have been expressed and no mailings have been sent by any Town of Gilford government officials.

Town Administrator, Gilford

It was also sent out by the Town’s e-blast system (after the jump).

This is hysterical! This takes a special kind of stupid to associate that name, Gilford Taxpayers Coalition, with the Town of Gilford. Now, there could be one of two reasons for this – or a special kind of stupid person (or group of people) – that would require a Town Administrator to denounce and deny that the Town has any affiliation with such a group:

  • That person (or group of people) really is that stupid
  • That person (or group of people) are just throwing up dirt thinking that something might stick to the wall and their enemies opposition could get nailed for something and shut them up.

Look, I’ve been getting the Gilford Taxpayer Coalition’s emails for years like clockwork just before the Deliberative Session – ballot voting for decades. I’m not a member nor have I ever been – that I know of; 32 years here in town is a long time and I can’t even remember what I’m having for lunch today!  I do know that it’s a fiscally conservative group of folks, seemingly, that doesn’t want to pay any more than necessary in taxes – totally understandable, right?  Certainly FAR different from Progressives and the “quality of life” folks that expect other people to pay for their “needs” and “wants” out of the town / school board budgets (although sometimes it’s obvious that their needs and wants are so co-mingled that there is no difference and YOU’RE A BIGOT and YOU HATE CHILDREN AND EDUCATION if you don’t agree with them (and certainly if you don’t vote with them).

But it is clear that other people don’t like what they are saying and are trying to get them shut down simply because, well, because. Sucks to be them, doesn’t it?
