Round 2: Jennifer Abbott and the SPLC – it’s getting personal

SPLC hatersWell, Jennifer Abbot decided to respond to my first response Letter to her’s as several friends alerted me to her newest screed (seriously: “God drivel“? No, not on the actual merits and questions I brought up but an attack on me personally – and tries to turn herself into a victim because I “belittled” her. Heh! I’ve once again put her Letter after the jump and the first part of my second response here. I may even directly fisk her letter to “amplify” things a bit as the headline for her Letter to the Editor went right to the heart of what Progressives want to do to those that oppose their policies:

HOPEFULLY, GILFORD VOTERS WILL REMOVE MR. MURPHY FROM THEIR BUDCOM IN 2020

Yep – silence you knave! How dare you refuse to accept our enlightened outlook on your petty little lives (heh!). Well, let see how this will turn out:

To the Editor,
Well, Ms. Abbot, you’ve just defined yourself to Daily Sun readers (“spare me your God drivel”) and not in a way you’d like. In stating such, you’ve rhetorically eliminated any use of the Bible for if it is nothing but “drivel” why did you attempt to have the Bible say that which isn’t there or use it for later justifications? Alinsky Rule #4 failure.

Just as the Parkland kids who called law abiding gun owners to be child murderers with blood on their hands and disparages millions of citizens who either belong to the NRA or simply treasure their God given Rights enumerated in our Constitutions, you have sweepingly done the exact thing that you accuse me of but from your extreme ideological Leftist bent. There is a difference between us, though; you demand they share your world view (your first Letter). I simply want folks like you to stop hectoring the “Just leave us alone Coalition” and let them live their lives the way THEY wish to – that “radical” notion of our Founders you so quickly dismissed.

Of course I disagree with those that don’t share my Conservative outlook. You made it abundantly clear in your Letters that you do as well but from a Leftist stance. The difference is that I merely disagree with you – you wish harm (e.g., by voting me off the BudComm) and to silence by defining me out of your view of “the mainstream” (typical responses of hard Left Progressives is to do exactly that re: silencing conservative speakers college campuses and what Antifa does at public rallies). Further, I didn’t belittle you but did ask a lot of questions of you that you refused to answer to clarify your positions. If others writing to oppose your stances is “bullying”, that’s an awful weak definition of the term.

I will admit – you are rather amusing with your straw-man arguments and assumptions in your latest letter and I find them (e.g., “idolize GUNS before God”) just part of the Progressive S.O.P. Tell me, how do you know that any of them are true – or is this stereotyping again? I have to admit, I chuckled at your reference to “include slavery…right for women to vote) as sheer inanity. Impugning and accusing that I’ve actually advocated for such? Now prove it or its just additional blithering. With over 12K posts at GraniteGrok and many LtE’s, there’s plenty to review; I doubt you’ll find it.

Yes, I have written about the Parkland kids: I felt sorry for them for the tragedy they underwent. I believe that children should be left out of public political discourse; it is inappropriate. We on the Right gave them “space” in the beginning but they continued their slanderous verbiage; of course push back started. They voluntarily entered the Political Arena and start smearing good people like Marco Rubio ( “down the barrel of an AR-15”), and spoke from ignorance and parroting Progressive talking points. They pronounced, in essence, “you are either with us or you are despicable murderers that wish to keep killing children”; seriously, that line of reasoning is both stupid and slanderous.

It is said that the Right understands the worldview of the Left far better than Left even bothers to learn the Conservative one. You’ve now proved that correct in both your Letters. So Heavens no! I don’t want you to go away (“…this liberal feminist isn’t going anywhere”). Instead of “silencing” you, you have no idea how much I really would like you to keep talking! One reason is that you are extremely amusing (though perhaps not in the manner you believe). Secondly, you show a face of Progressivism that few people ever see. Example: the Progressives mask of “we’re not going to take your guns” they’ve been hiding behind for years has dropped. Y’all truly do want to take our guns; proven multiple times over the weekend and punctuated with “liberal” former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stephens calling for a repeal of the Second Amendment . It will show those in the middle the stark political views that you hold versus what they’d normally vote for. Lastly, I may have more fun than I did doing point-counterpoint years ago with the “Nutty Professor from Plymouth State”; at least he had a sense of humor.

I concluded this Letter as before, I would still use my firearm to protect you if it were necessary – that’s why many of us carry. I’ll also stand on the almost 13,000 posts at GraniteGrok written over the last 12 years – they completely define my political outlook in toto.

Again, here are the center point questions of my previous LTE – did she even bother to address them?

  • Why would I, as a Christian, want to join such a group (the saying of Groucho Marx on such a “club” circling my head) that already hates me?
  • Is that what you see too, Ms. Abbott, that anyone who doesn’t believe as you do should be labeled as a “hater” simply because of a disagreement like this?
  • I believe in traditional marriage – why does that make me a “hater”?
  • Or more importantly, that you believe I am anti-LGBT?
  • Should I also be hated simply because I believe in an enumerated Right even though I am a law-abiding citizen who understands the responsibility that goes along with that Right?
  • Or do you absolutely believe that all gun owners are guilty of the crimes of a few?
  • Why do you pronounce us guilty already?
  • Why do you pronounce us guilty simply because you believe we are all white supremacists simply because of the color of our skin (or to be more technically correct, the lack of melanin in our tissues)?
  • So much for the Freedom of Conscience, eh – we are allowed only your’s?
  • It seems that anyone that disagrees with you is a “hater” and you’ve no problem in labeling and Otherizing millions of people that simply think differently than you. Isn’t that hatred personified?
  • Did it ever occur to you that we law-abiding citizens carry BECAUSE we would protect a child in a such a situation?

Her second LTE:

To The Daily Sun,

Wow! I really don’t even know where to begin with David “Skip” Murphy but let me start with, well, “Skip,” I could state the same morality issues with extolling the virtues of Breitbart. How did you state it? “Be Breitbart,” and we all know how “tolerant” they are, bashing women and spreading anti-Semitic sentiment, hatred and rhetoric. Breitbart, you’re their biggest fan!

Also, spare me your God drivel. The last time I opened the Bible, I didn’t read anything about gun rights, the NRA or bullying thy neighbor. You disagree with every person’s political view who isn’t a conservative like you. True Christians love thy neighbor, they don’t idolize “GUNS” before God. Your conservative Tea Party-infused “Granite Grok” radio show is used to intimidate and belittle anyone who doesn’t agree with your politics — not very Christian, “Skip.” As stated, your show is to “Advance the RADICAL Notions” of America’s founders back into our culture. Would that include slavery and taking away the right for women to vote?

Obviously, you have entrenched yourself in Gilford’s town politics as “vice chair” of Gilford’s Budget Committee. Unfortunately, you’re there until 2020, when, hopefully, the citizens of Gilford will vote you out. After all, calling teenagers who protested in the “March for Our Lives” as “self-absorbed” and “self- righteous” won’t win you any votes from our brave millennials. So quick to judge me — and my lack of “intricate GUN knowledge” — you belittle me in the paper —like that’s going to scare me away? Nope, sorry, this liberal feminist isn’t going anywhere. The SPLC is way more Christain than you’ll ever be. I can’t wait for you to explain to Jesus why you find gun rights and automatic rifles more important than children’s lives. Place yourself in high school again; this isn’t the 1950s, “Skip”; rather than practicing nuclear bomb drills, our children are practicing “active shooter” drills, but hey, what do I know, according to your opinion, I’m just a “hater.” Your bullying tactics through your lame birther-movement talk show are pathetic as well as your attacks on the citizens who write into this paper with oppositional views. “Self-Righteous” “Skip,” I suggest holding up a mirror.

Of course, she didn’t answer any of the questions. She can’t and she knows it. All I can tell you is that this will be “amusing”. In more ways than one.
