Granite Grok Continues to Grow It’s Audience -Slips Into 6th Place

alexa traffic rankThe combined online readership of the Berlin and Conway Daily Sun.com have (only briefly, we hope) knocked us out of fifth place in our list of Alexa Rankings in this March update. But not by much. And not for long.

We’ve experienced another month of exponential growth in unique visitors and page views. Some percentage of those will be using the Alexa add-on in their browsers (hint-hint) which helps out ranking with this globally recognized metric.

And while we may have been (briefly) bumped out of fifth place, both our national and global rank continue to improve. Since I announced this fun little challenge our Alexa rank has improved 31% nationally and 19% globally.

I’m working on a graph that’s not ready so for a peek at the starting numbers in January, please look here.

The next update was on February 13th, which you can review here.

And this is our updated top ten list for March, sorted nationally.

Name National Rank Global
WMUR 4,641 26,022
Union Leader 13,031 60,048
Seacoast Online 21,130 105,769
Fosters.com 31,939 158,740
Conway Daily Sun/Berlin Daily 52,165 265,028
GraniteGrok.com   52,767 269,195
Keene Sentinel 57,016 265,140
NH1 64,877 259,728
Nashua Telegraph 80,117 547,258
Salem Observer 87,462 411,536

As you can see, NH1 and the Keen Sentinel rank better globally than Grok, for now, but not Nationally. NH1 has been on a rollercoaster since it dropped its TV arm but has hung on as an internet media outlet.

There was another big mover on this list. The Nashua Telegraph, which had awful numbers in January but has seen a 32% improvement globally and a 45% improvement nationally since then.

I can only hope we embarrassed the crap out of them in January when they landed at number thirteen on our list behind Manchester Ink Link.

Kudos to them, even though I wouldn’t wipe my dog’s ass with the print version.

And my apologies if I’ve done anyone an injustice by excluding you. It wasn’t deliberate. Future lists can be updated, just send me the media site in New Hampshire, and I’ll make every effort to include them especially if they are ranking better than the Grok.

I did exclude anyone not in the top ten from this report, but I did check the top 15 from the original list.

Unless or until we fall off our little pedestal I’ll limit this to a top ten but promise to look at the sites that jockey in and out of the top 15 to see where they are headed and include a note if they start making major moves.

Finally, continued thanks to our readers and exploding Facebook traffic. We appreciate your time and attention and hope to continue to be worthy of it.
