FB Doodlings – Yes, they should have been arrested

US Rep Paul GosarConcord Monitor ran a Polti-“fact” piece on US Rep Paul Gosar (R-Arizona) calling for the arresting of any illegal aliens attending the State of the Union address even if they were a guest of a sitting (Democrat) CongressTwit; they rated it true that he did say it.

My response was:

As well as he should be; any and all illegal aliens should have been arrested and immediately removed.

Our country is founded on the Principle that no man is above the law – from the lowest station in life to the highest, we all should be subject to it. You may not respect the law; change it. You may think that the law is discriminatory, or immoral, or unfair; change it. Until then, obey it. It shows the depths to which this country is falling when our highest lawmakers in the land bring in illegal aliens – those that should not be here. They told the rest of us that both themselves and their “guests” are not subject to The Rule of Law even as they make new ones and expect us follow them; and they wonder why their approval rating is just above that of whale snot?

Thank you, Democrats, for being role models that it is perfectly fine to “pick and choose” which laws must be followed and which are optional especially when a pet identity political “victim” group is involved.

The problem is that there were those that criticized it; naturally the Democrats did but so did a couple of Republicans (if you follow the links).  The full quote from Gosar first:

“Today, Congressman Paul Gosar contacted the U.S. Capitol Police, as well as Attorney General Jeff Sessions, asking they consider checking identification of all attending the State of the Union address and arresting any illegal aliens in attendance.

“Additionally, Congressman Gosar asked that they arrest those using fraudulent social security numbers and identification to pass through security.

“Of all the places where the Rule of Law needs to be enforced, it should be in the hallowed halls of Congress. Any illegal aliens attempting to go through security, under any pretext of invitation or otherwise, should be arrested and deported.”

THe first part I agree with but checking SSNs would have gummed up the entry lines worse than the TSA at Burbank airport on a rainy day while a union slowdown was in force. Detain first, check later – why should real citizens be subjected to that?  But here was one Repub, U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) that disagreed with the notion all together:

“Oh my goodness, Rep. Gosar. Dreamers don’t pose a threat to us,” she tweeted. “This is so drastic and cruel. Dios mío.”

Actually, they do, Representative, but not the physical threat that you intimate here; it is far, far worse – a bad idea that runs against, believe it or not, Freedom, for if there is no properly legislated Rule of Law, we may well devolve to anarchy. Rudy Giuliani had the right of it – stop broken windows and other “higher” laws will be respected.  When you allow those windows to be broken, it shows that those that govern don’t worry about The Rule of Law; enforce it and it sends a huge message.  What Ros-Lehtinen just said was “that’s ok, I don’t mind if you break The Law”.

And we wonder why we’re in the fix we are? If there is no respect for the Law, there is no equality for the Law and the Democrats showed that in spades Tuesday night.  The message was that if you “belong” to us, we will protect you just like warlords do in third world countries – swear fealty and it’s like being back in feudal times.  You know, the kind that our ancestors left where Royalty (to a large degree) could rule on a whim.

Is that where we want to go and be?  If those at the top of governance don’t understand what happened in this little incident, we will end up there.
