Exxon Suing Environmental Cabal That Tried to Sue Them Over Climate Change

Exxon continues to punch back at detractors looking to make a name for themselves by filing environmental conspiracy lawsuits against the energy giant.

A lesser battle, which I reported a few weeks ago, followed an effort by seven California cities to get settlements for putting their municipalities at risk. Devastating claims that were conspicuously absent in their courting of bond investors.

This time Exxon is hunting the lever pullers behind the coordinated attack by Green Groups and AGs led by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Al Gore, and others.

[WUWT] The company has targeted at least 30 people and organizations, including the attorneys general of New York and Massachusetts, hitting them with suits, threats of suits or demands for sworn depositions. The company claims the lawyers, public officials and environmental activists are “conspiring” against it in a coordinated legal and public relations campaign.

The Exxon Witch Hunt lead to the discovery of collusion between political activist groups and various attorneys general to silence dissent.

Emails obtained by the Energy & Environment Legal Institute (E&E Legal) show that the offices of New York Democratic Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and those of other politically aligned AGs, secretly teamed up with anti-fossil fuel activists to launch investigations against groups whose political speech challenged the global warming policy agenda.

Exxon has,

given that campaign a vaguely sinister-sounding name: “The La Jolla playbook.” According to the company, about two dozen people hatched a strategy against it at a meeting six years ago in an oceanfront cottage in La Jolla, Calif.

There’s plenty of irony to go around. The original Al Gore publicity stunt asked for an investigation as to whether Exxon Mobil had misled investors. They called it a turning point and insisted that the first amendment doesn’t give you the right to commit fraud. And a turning point it may be.

Seven cities in California may be misleading their investors while suing Exxon for compensation. And the Al Gore Schneidermann cabal appear to be involved in a RICO-esque scheme to silence the first amendment rights of anyone who opposes their global green agenda.
