EMail Doodlings – Jeanne Shaheen lies to make political points

Jeanne Shaheen Wicked WitchI am on most of the Republican email lists that matter here in NH.  Ditto the Democrat ones – like the US Ambassador to NH Jeanne Shaheen (who demonstrates on a regular basis that what happens in DC should override what we New Hampshireits decide for ourselves).  Now, we all know that almost all, Right and Left, politicians are going to “embellish” from time to time; we all know how and when to discount what they say or write.  However, Shaheen decided to use a blatant lie in order to score political points.  Here’s what she sent on the 19th (reformatted, emphasis mine):

Friends: Right now, Donald Trump and congressional Republicans are just hours away from shutting down our entire government. Why? Because they’re more interested in playing politics than in doing what’s right.

Republicans refuse to protect the nearly 700,000 Dreamers who came to this country as children, provide adequate resources to end the opioid crisis or reauthorize the Children’s Health Insurance Program. It’s absolutely unacceptable. No matter what, I’m going to keep fighting until midnight strikes. But with only hours to go, I want to know where you stand:

Now, I realize that there are two lies going on here (or at best, 1 is a severe misdirection).

The misdirection / lie is that on the Dreamers – the illegal immigrants that all of our Congressional coven have uplifted over the hundreds of millions of American citizens; Shaheen is complicit is using them as a wrecking ball for keeping the Fed open (full disclosure: not that I care much if it is closed – it just shows how too powerful, too intrusive, and too sprawling

Sidenote:  hmmm, Progressives are all too quick to rail against suburban sprawl when it comes to ordinary people determining the best usage of their private property in building homes.  How come we never hear about government sprawl at all?

the Fed has become and needs a severe pruning.  The problem is that it isn’t 00,000 as the real number is more like 4 million and its $26 billion cost to taxpayers over the next ten years .  Now add in the next item, chain migration, and that number soars into the tens of millions, especially as Democrats already want family members of those Dreamers (and notice is isn’t just the DACA recipients which are around 700K).

The outright lie is that of SCHIP which Democrats demanded be in the spending bill that would keep the Feds open. She LIES when she intimates that her political enemies have refused to fund it; the Republicans added it to the bill (in fact, Democrats have admitted there is nothing IN the bill they oppose).  Further, they made it whole for the next six years – a long term financing offer!

No, Shaheen is lying – bigly.  All to legalize illegals.  She (and Hassan and Kuster and Shea-Porter) are using the Government shutdown as a political cudgel and shoving The Rule of Law to the gutter.  The coven are in the proper places to effect the legal change to that Law – they haven’t (and Shaheen could have done so during the first two years of the Obama Administration when the Dems had supermajorities and could have done this lickety-split and steamrolled any Republican opposition.

No, this is merely the battle ground shaping for the 2018 mid-term elections when the People will speak.  Which, by the way, they are already starting to whisper:

CNN Poll: 56% of Americans Say DACA Is Not Worth a Government Shutdown

CNN poll released today shows that the majority of Americans think it is more important that Congress avoids a federal government shutdown than it is to pass a bill protecting illegal aliens brought into the country as children. Those who currently receive protections under former President Barack Obama’s executive order known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) are commonly known as “Dreamers.”

According to CNN, 56% of Americans would rather the federal government stay open for business than Congress reach a compromise on DACA. “Still, 56% overall say approving a budget agreement to avoid a shutdown is more important than continuing the DACA program, while just 34% choose DACA over a shutdown. Democrats break narrowly in favor of DACA — 49% say it’s more important vs. 42% who say avoiding a shutdown is the priority — while majorities of both Republicans (75%) and independents (57%) say avoiding a shutdown is more important.”

So when is, hee-hee, is Shaheen going to come to the “right side of history”?
