NH GOP Increases Calls for Resignation of State Rep Guilty of Assaulting a Citizen

Yesterday, the New Hampshire Republican Party renewed calls for the resignation of state representative Katherine Rogers (D-Concord). Rogers is the representative who recently pleaded guilty to assaulting a volunteer during a ballot recount last year.

While most people believe Rogers should resign for her deplorable behavior of physically assaulting a citizen, the New Hampshire Democrat party has remained silent on the matter. In fact, according to the Concord Patch, they were there supporting her “guilty” plea:

A contingent of elected Democrats and other activists were in attendance to support Rogers including Ray Buckley, the chairman of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, Minority Leader Steve Shurtleff, D-Concord, Kris Schultz, D-Concord, Ken Roos, a labor activist, state Rep. Tim Horrigan, D-Durham, and others.

The post appeared on the New Hampshire GOP’s website with the following message:

On December 22nd, 2017, Concord Democrat Representative Kathy Rogers pleaded guilty to assaulting a political volunteer during a 2016 election recount.

Despite Democrat Party Chair Raymond Buckley and House Minority Leader Steve Shurtleff attending her court date to cheer her on and enable her violent, unhinged behavior, they have been silent on the issue since.

Tweet TODAY demanding Representative Rogers resign! Use #ResignRogers to increase pressure!

Many Republican State Representatives have called for Rogers’ resignation but elected Democrats have mostly remained silent. Granite Staters from across the state have demanded her resignation, including Democrats. New Hampshire’s all female, all Democrat federal delegation has also remained silent on this issue.

A petition demanding Rogers resign was also started on change.org. To date, almost 700 people have signed. The updates are apparently sent to House Speaker Gene Chandler and Minority Leader Steve Shurtleff, who was in attendance when Rogers pleaded guilty to assault:

A local Democrat and state representative pleaded guilty this morning to assaulting a political opponent during a state Senate ballot recount in November 2016. State Rep. Katherine Rogers, D-Concord, 61, pleaded guilty to the assault charge as part of a plea deal that would help her avoid jail time as well as a fine so long as she stays out of trouble during the next year and attends anger management classes during the next 90-days. Both Rogers and the victim – Susan Olsen, a former state representative candidate from Warner and a well-known 2nd Amendment rights activist – were in Concord District Court on Dec. 22, 2017, for the plea and sentencing.

Back on Nov. 16, 2016, during the recount for the District 7 state Senate seat held at the state archives building, Rogers put her arm around Olsen and then struck her with a semi-closed right hand on the side of the head.”

This is unacceptable behavior from ANYONE, especially an elected representative.

Democrats scream bloody murder if a Republican even breathes a way they find offensive but when one of their own elected officials admits to physically assaulting a citizen, during an electoral process no less, they seem to crawl back under their rocks, hoping it will all blow over.
