Democrat Rep. Katherine Rogers Pleads Guilty To Assault Charge

Rep.-Katherine-Rogers-600x337The 2017 ‘Humane Legislator of the Year’ entered a guilty plea to avoid jail time for assaulting Conservative activist Susan Olsen.

CONCORD, NH — A local Democrat and state representative pleaded guilty this morning to assaulting a political opponent during a state Senate ballot recount in November 2016. State Rep. Katherine Rogers, D-Concord, 61, pleaded guilty to the assault charge as part of a plea deal that would help her avoid jail time as well as a fine so long as she stays out of trouble during the next year and attends anger management classes during the next 90-days.

At least one (former) NH House Rep. has called for her to step down.

She has violated the public trust and broken the law. In today’s Concord Monitor, it was reported Katherine Rogers has been charged with assault. It stems from an incident that took place last November. Ten months ago. Why she is still in office is entirely unacceptable. If she does not make the decision to step down the Democratic Party should require her to do so. For allowing her to stay means the Democratic Party will look the other way if violence is perpetrated by one of their members.

In this case, State Democrat leadership didn’t look the other way. They showed up to support it.

A contingent of elected Democrats and other activists were in attendance to support Rogers including Ray Buckley, the chairman of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, Minority Leader Steve Shurtleff, D-Concord, Kris Schultz, D-ConcordKen Roos, a labor activist, state Rep. Tim Horrigan, D-Durham, and others.

The New Hampshire Democrat Party. Advocating the assault of political opponents.
