Recent research has uncovered another one of those ‘water is wet’ discoveries.
A new survey by insurance firm Aviva found that 72 percent of 16 to 24-year-olds believe the term “snowflake” is unfairly applied to millennials. 74 percent of respondents took it a step farther, arguing that they believe the use of the label could have a negative effect on young people’s mental health.
This ranks up there with researchers discovering that oral sex can lead to intercourse among teenagers.
That study also “discovered” that teenagers don’t think of oral sex as sex. It is an idea that is the product of the Democrat party and the media’s years-long broadside to protect Bill Clinton’s presidency after his Lewinsky moment.
It makes you wonder how many of the sex-offenders being (rightfully) pilloried in the press circa 2017 are only guilty because of the progressive party protections afforded William Jefferson Clinton?
And let us not forget Whoopie Goldberg, who said Roman Polanski wasn’t guilty of rape-rape. It was something else. In fact, it was five somethings else. Samantha Gailey, a 13-year-old girl was raped by use of drugs, perversion, sodomy, a lewd and lascivious act upon a child under 14, and furnishing a controlled substance to a minor.
Polanski drugged a child an raped them. But to a liberal entertainer, her liberal colleagues, or liberals in her audience (mostly women) that wasn’t rape? Ordinary people don’t defend that behavior. They certainly don’t say it in public, and not on national television, unless that sort of thinking permeates their worldview; positions perceived as correct or rational.
But it is neither correct nor rational.
Monica Lewinsky was four years old when 13-year old Samantha Gailey was drugged and raped. Whoopi was a spry twenty-two. The liberals had Polanski’s back, then. But what about the snowflakes?
That’s a tough call.
Dr. Doug Wright argues that because young people are more likely to experience mental health issues than older generations, they are especially susceptible to damage as a result of usage of the “snowflake” label. “Our findings suggest that young adults are more likely to be experiencing mental health problems, so using a phrase which criticizes this age group could add to this issue,” he said. “Any term used disparagingly to a segment of the population is inherently negative.”
The snowflakes are products of progressive propaganda and the same culture that defended Bill Clinton and Roman Polanski, but they are not always or necessarily under the left’s control.
The violent protests and the damaging of people and property by snowflakes is inherently negative but only opposed by the left when the publicity created by the offspring of their social and cultural engineering has negative consequences for their politics.
The media does its part to help, but they are handicapped by their progressive beer goggles. When the “resistance” encouraged violence the glorious revolution of the left was not as well received as those inside the progressive bubble had anticipated. Campus violence by like-minded snowflakes was also bad for business.
Yes, the outbursts of the adult-sized children are directed at people and things progressives want to see destroyed, or at least shackled. Republicans. The Constitution. History. Free Speech. Freethought. Free expression. Free association. The folks who just elected Mr. Trump.
But the optics were wrong, so the reports went away. The media presentation of the glorious revolution no longer leads in the national news. You have to dig into local media to find it.
Most of the ridiculousness of this worldview gets ignored because of the absurdity and intolerance it projects.
But wherever you look, or however it presents itself, the left wants us to sit idly by while they work out their feelings at the expense of others. Oh, and don’t call them snowflakes.
Well, snowflakes, here’s something the societal Dr. Frankenstein’s in the world of academia and progressive politics never told you. In the promised political utopia the destruction from such tantrums is meant to herald there is no room for people with mental health issues. It’s not part of the program.
Read a book about it. Progressives are into eugenics. And no, the so-called right to sexual self-selection doesn’t survive in the perfect society. Nor does being a woman, black, a hispanic, a feminist, an illegal immigrant, a refugee, or anything the left claims to champion. If they no longer need your vote or your boot, and you are not a productive member of their new world order, they’ll plow you under and move on as if you never existed.
And yes, all this crap about sexual harassment is political; they are only sorry they got caught. Conyers is a willing casualty to a political calculation. Franken isn’t losing his place in the party, he’s just making a lateral move that represents no loss of power. The media and Hollywood people are a dime a dozen, easily replaced from the poisoned progressive pool. And even were that not true the left will happily burn their own if it gets them closer to a political goal.
You’re feelings, you, mean nothing to the Professional Left if it doesn’t translate to votes and power. So, being called a snowflake is the least of your problems.
