“Which wolf wins?” – “The one that you feed.”

maxresdefaultThis comes From “The King’s Traitor,” the third book in the Kingfountain Series by Jeff Wheeler. Duke Horwath raised Owen, and at one point they talked about different sides of human motivation using wolves as a metaphor.

“One (wolf) was full of evil, jealousy, anger, resentment. The other wolf was kind, benevolent, generous, and dutiful. Owen had asked how someone could survive with two such beasts inside them. Would not one eventually win? Duke Horwath had given him a crinkled smile. “Which wolf wins?” he had asked. “The one that you feed.”

It’s actually an old Cherokee legend to describe good versus evil. I’m pretty sure we could find something similar in every culture throughout history which only tells us that humans have been aware of human nature for centuries.

Someone should teach Democrats. I know they don’t care much for history but they are fans of socialism and almost 100 years of that has failed to leave an impression.
