US Senator Jeanne Shaheen – goes full Socialist and anti-Constitution in one breath: Single Payer healthcare

Jeanne Shaheen Wicked Witch

So Jeanne Shaheen shows:

  • Her contempt for the US Constitution
  • Her complete lack of qualification to be a US Senator  due to not knowing what a Right is
  • Her complete willingness to, yet again, make taxpayers further into indentured servants
  • And like the best that Progressives can show – NEVER once has she said ANYTHING about how Government would pay for Single Payer Healthcare

To wit:

For the first time, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen supported single-payer legislation, signing on Wednesday as a co-sponsor of Bernie Sanders’ Medicare for All Act of 2017. “I support the Medicare for All Act because I believe that health care should be a fundamental right in this country,” Shaheen said.

“Too many Granite Staters continue to struggle to access quality affordable health care. I know that in a Republican-controlled Congress this legislation will not pass in the near term, but I believe this bill puts pressure on Congress to think big when it comes to providing the health care that all Americans need and deserve.”

Shaheen recently praised bipartisan leaders in the Senate for seeking to stabilize rate shock occurring in state health care marketplaces, including New Hampshire’s.

The Constitution doesn’t allocate the power to the Federal Government to control healthcare – see the Tenth Amendment in that the powers assigned to the Feds are few and the rest belong to the States and, most importantly, to we citizens.  Yet, she believes in the disregard for the letter and the spirit of the Constitution.  She is of the ilk that believes, unlike the Founders that we ALL need to be mindful of it, nothing is unconstitutional until a court strikes down their actions (see: Progressives and the Proper Role of Government)

And look at the utter uncomprehending way she throws “health care should be a fundamental right” around.  Our Founders studied, debated, and understood that a Right is NOT a function of Government handing out a goodie and calling it a Right but something that is innate in all of us simply as a birthright of being human.  Our Natural Rights are not a function of Government, thankfully, but are a part of each of us.  We can choose to exercise those Rights or not – it is our Freedom to do either, and in both cases, they are never lost as long as those in Government rightly leave them alone.  Sadly, it seems, that contrary to what the Founders believed, Jeanne Shaheen believes in the feudal, Hobbesian idea that Socialist and Communists have embraced that enumerating Rights in a Constitution implies that GOVERNMENT gives you a Right all by its lonesome.  Out of thin air, as it were.

A Natural Right is one that we can exercise without impacting others; I may freely speak, but you don’t have to listen.  I may wish to exercise my Second Amendment Right, and it requires nothing from you and so on for each of the Rights listed in the Bill of Rights – Government is placed into a straitjacket when it comes to them, so they are negative Rights.  The Founders knew that to maximize personal liberty, which they saw as their highest goal, the government has to be restrained.

But with the Socialist movement taking hold in the US with Woodrow Wilson as the first President to be fully disdainful of the Constitution and then with FDR’s Second Bill of Rights, the Left insisted that like all other countries, we should be a country of Positive Rights – what Government HAS to give you.  LBJ and Obama just stepped on the accelerator, and now Jeanne Shaheen is adding jet fuel to the conflagration that this Statist / Progressive Totalitarians have created with this utter rejection of our founding Principles.

Why are Positive Rights so insidious?  For Government to give you something, it must first take something away.  Often, I speak of taxes and that Government takes more and more of taxpayers private property to give to others because GOVERNMENT. I have no problem with paying taxes for a limited government, but beyond that, it is legalized theft.  Politicians can’t understand that saying “NO” and doing nothing is the best answer.  Stop treating us like children and believing we are eternal victims that can only succeed via the Big Hand of Government (like Carol Shea-Porter believes)

The early guesstimates are that Single Payer will cost $32 Trillion over the next ten years – $3.2 Trillion / year.  To put that in context, our total national debt is $20 Trillion.  Our national GDP is $19 Trillion.  The Federal Budget is a tad over $4 Trillion a year.

Vermont, like Kentucky, like Hawaii, like Colorado, and most recently California, who found out that a Single Payer system would cost more than their current budgets. They walked away because the cost in taxes would foment rebellions. If this passes, is Jeanne Shaheen willing to take that risk?  How far, in following hypocrite Socialist Bernie Sanders (and his three expensive homes and his taxpayer-paid salary and health benefits) and his about-to-be indicted wife, is she willing to make indentured servants of us all to Government?  Or has she already seen the high taxes in the countries that Bernie boasts about for healthcare – does she think that we Producers will take it sitting down?  And what happens, like many high tax States are finding out (re: lately, Connecticut is learning this lesson FAST) that their high earners and companies just pack up and leave?  Just ask France when they jacked up their income tax – those folks just moved.

And then she doubled down:

To make premiums more affordable, Shaheen offered the Marketplace Certainty Act to make permanent payments for cost-sharing reductions and to expand eligibility.

This is an absolute admission that the intrusion by the Federal Government into the healthcare market has seriously unbalanced things.  Essentially this will continue what Obama did unconstitutionally by setting up the backchannel process of taking even more money from taxpayers, already having problems in paying insurance premiums, simply to give to the insurance companies to pay for their losses.

Think about it – if high premiums are the results of Obamacare, WHY continue to feed this death spiral?  This is just “taxpayer money wallpaper” being used to hide an ugly wall.  The wall is still ugly, and taxpayers are still broker than before.  But like a good Socialist / Communist, it’s all about “according to their need” – and we all know from where that came.

She ruined the healthcare insurance marketplace with her SB711 bill, the same tactics that Obamacare later adopted and which is destroying the national system.

She can’t own up to her mistakes, can she?  Mistakes we can see but she can’t with her Socialist ideological glasses on.

Unless Government is in control of everything, her glass is only an eighth full.  It is clear that Venezuela, for the latest example of complete Socialism in charge, is not a lesson plan from which to learn.
