For nothing says “break down racial hierarchies and create a positive narrative about race in the community” like segregated dinners?

blowing bubblesMy almost two year old grandson LOVES blowing bubbles (he’s learned how).  But this snippet shows adults all wrapped up in their own smug self-justified bubble to where, once again, they couldn’t find their own self-induced irony even if you gave them a magnet (reformatted, emphasis mine):

University will host dinners as part of ‘racial reconciliation’ program

To promote “racial reconciliation” after the deadly clashes between white nationalists and counterprotesters in Charlottesville last month, Brown University plans to offer segregated events to its black students and female Muslim students. The university received a $30,000 grant from the Association of American Colleges and Universities, which represents liberal arts schools, to create a campus center whose mission is to “break down racial hierarchies and create a positive narrative about race in the community,” according to The Brown Daily Herald.

These grants, provided with the assistance of the Newman’s Own Foundation and W.K. Kellogg Foundation, will go towards hosting racially and religiously segregated “dinner discussion groups.” These discussions are being led by Brown University Chaplain Rev. Janet Cooper Nelson, who told The Daily that “one [group will be] for black students and the other [will be for] for Muslim women on campus.”

Ayuh, sure thing. Racial reconciliation – how’s that working with just one “race” present?  Or just one religion?  Sorry, this sounds like an “in clique” party session.  And it does get stupider:

Last spring, Harvard hosted its first-ever blacks-only student graduation ceremony; a number of other universities hosted similar segregated graduation events. Last winter, students at the University of Michigan demanded a “no-whites-allowed space.” A year ago California State University’s Los Angeles campus offered segregated housing for black students.

And in May, American University barred white students from a cafe in order to create a “sanctuary” for nonwhite students, a demand the provost of the university called “reasonable.”

Sigh. America went through tremendous upheaval during the 50s and 60s (and into the 70s) when REAL race strife was happening – and among we ordinary folks, much of that race war was laid to rest.  However, race-baiters on both sides of the color divide still plied their hatred as they both weaponized and monitized it for their own benefits.  Great efforts were made to fulfill “E pluribus unum” – from many, one.

And now these college aged kids are literally throwing all of that progress (and there HAS been much progress made to reach MLK’s color / character goal) away and returning to segregation.  Look, I’m fine with the First Amendment aspects of it but if you are putting yourself into a bubble, are you delaying the inevitable of working across that race or religion bubble or now setting up for a complete reconstituted segregated US?

Is this really what they want?  Or is “race reconciliation” going to end up as just one demand after another like what we have seen with BLM list of demands?
