I still don’t understand why this is a bad thing?

Jeh JohnsonJeh Johnson (former Obama Secretary of DHS) (emphasis mine, reformatted):

Johnson argued on CNN’s “New Day” that Trump’s tone toward illegal immigrants has made those in Central America and Mexico afraid to enter the U.S., and the people would rather stay in their home countries instead of risking an illegal entrance. “Through his rhetoric, he scared off a lot of women and children in Central America who’d rather stay in their desperate circumstances or just migrate to Mexico and stop there,” Johnson said. “But these are really desperate women and children, women with babies in their arms, who are trying to flee the poverty and violence in the countries they left.”

Oh, the horror!  And the lie.  The Obama Administration basically said “Olly olly in come free” to just about anyone coming across our southern border (e.g., Alinsky’s taking for the Have-nots).  What else can you say that they’d take unaccompanied children and ship them off to relatives / friends / predators somewhere in the US?  Or bring others in front of an immigration judge, get issued a date to appear in court – and then scamper off never to be seen again?

Yessir – that word got around real quick – the carpet is rolled out, the door bell is working, and the door is wide open.  No, sir, they DIDN’T just stop in Mexico as we saw a tide of illegal immigration rivaling that invading Europe.

I also dryly note the old hackneyed Democrat propaganda of using

children and single mothers as political pawns – tugging at the emotional appeal instead of The Rule of Law.  Like here where he tosses it under the bus:

“When you enforce immigration laws, you have to be able to look yourself in the mirror, look your own family in the eye, recall the women and children who are desperate to say, ‘I did my best to enforce the law consistent with our priorities and consistent with our values,’” Johnson said, adding that he hopes the Trump administration “does not lose sight of that.”

Did you see what he did there?  The operative phrase was NOT “to enforce [The Rule of ] law – it was a cover for “consistent with our priorities and consistent with our values“.  And in a lot of issues and areas, that was always the mode of the Obama Administration – if the Law fit their priorities and their values, great.  If not, well, too bad.  After all, look what they did with DACA and DAPA in this immigration space in which Obama first declared that The Law didn’t give him the power to do those programs (giving amnesty to young children brought over the border by their parents while flouting our immigration law) a number of times – and then did it anyways “consistent with our priorities and consistent with our values”.

Which proves our point that the Obama Administration cared little about one of our Foundational Principles of our Republic but certainly is consistent with the Progressive “it’s all about the Power” schtick.
