Hey NH1: Which Flags Are The Conservative Flags?

militant-snowflakeBrooke Coupal, writing for NH1 News online, has an article about a guy in Pittsfield whom Pittsfield Police Chief Jeffrey Cain claims, has a tendency to change the items outside of his home.

The article, titled “Neighbor complain to police over Nazi, Conservative flags outside NH home,” has a picture with the NH State flag, a Gadsden flag, ‘We support the Troops,’ and some American flags. The reported Nazi flag and some Confederate flags had since been removed.

The title, as written, hints (perhaps with a feather or a sledgehammer) that Nazi and Conservative flags are similar and both subject to complaints. There are at least three issues with this I’d like to point out.

First, while the flags were reputed to have been displayed outside the same home Nazi ideology and American Conservatism shares no political commonality.

Second, the Gadsden flag is more Libertarian than conservative, leaving us with a “Support or troops” banner and some American flags.

Third, if the American flags and Support or troops are “Conservative” does that prove that liberal ideology opposes both?

There’s no evidence that anyone is complaining about the “conservative” flags. The police chief notes that the owner if free to display whatever flag they like on their property and that this is something he does. But the title wants us to believe that both sorts are at issue with neighbors when it is more likely they are an issue for the reporters.

The author or the editor (or both), odds being high that they are both Liberal and have no idea what flag means what, are drawing a purposeful connection between the National Socialist German Worker’s Part Party of Hitler (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei ) and 21st century American Constitutional Conservatism.

I think they need to revisit the history. Adolf’s National Socialists have so much in common with modern Democrats that they discover the press room a more ideologically suitable place to hang the Nazi Swastika. The Confederate flag too, now that I think about it.
