To secure and preserve these Rights – what other country was founded to protect Rights and the ideas surrounding those Rights?  The answer, plainly, is none ( in the case of many “passed” Communist countries that tried to profess the same, they turned out to be shallow if not outright false if you read their former Constitutions).

Frankly, Gillibrand is being true to her brand – Democrats/Socialists believe that Government has been instituted, since the time that German socialism infected America, strictly to “help” people by giving them things with the dirty little secret being you must behave in the manner in which they deign to “give” them to you (e.g., “here’s the money but only if you use it THIS way”). It’s natural to them but what is worse, as this last election has shown, they expect that for them to be in all around power to be the natural status of things.  You know, like breathing – and they rule.

Unfortunately, as we are seeing in DC right now, the Establishment Republicans have been infected with this pestilence as well with their yammering that they can’t repeal Obamacare because it will take things away from people.  They’ve fallen for the same gnosticism that Government GIVES stuff to them rather than its true purpose.

Frankly, I wish politicians of both stripes that have inculcated this would just go home.  Let Government, at least at the Federal level, shrink back to where it was our first 200 years – and let us, the We the People part, take back up the Freedoms to live our lives with more Liberty – Liberty that has NOT been protected but taken from us in the types, the quality, and the quantity of decisions we can make on our own.  Let them go home, and let Civil Society take care of the issues and problems that beset us (and did a pretty good job of it – after all, it was voluntary charity that built most of America’s healthcare system before Government started its crowding out if you are looking for an example) – we Americans are a giving society and if Government backs off (along with the requisite tax reductions and regulations up the wazoo), we would see that again.

Let them go home and one thing would happen – no one would be able to claim “I already gave because Govt already took it out of my check”.  That would allow more people to be more active and there’d be no more dodges via “somebody ought to pass a law”.  Instead, all of us would be better positioned to say “hey, what are YOU going to do about it??”

It worked for most of American history.  For those of you naysayers, study a bit about the Amish.  They are what we used to be – self-reliant, hard-working, God-fearing and willing to offer a helping hand.  Sure, they have problems like anyone else but a lot of people could learn a lot from them.

A whole lot better model than Democrats who demand your money and then promise to do things for (to?) you with your own money.  Just not you making the decisions about you and your family.
