Blogline of the Day – Naw, she only want Government to have guns

by Skip

SO IT’S A SHIP WITH NO GUNS? US Navy commissions USS Gabrielle Giffords.

First off, what did she do or accomplish to actually earn the reward of having a ship named after her?  That aside, she’s just fine with any arm of Government having weapons – just not us.  But if the Navy had the courage of her convictions for the rest of us then yes, it would just be ship for make-work welfare for sailors.

it’s REALLY bad luck to name a ship after someone still alive.

    • Not always: the USS Ronald Reagan was launched while he was still alive.

And then Pres,Reagan he died just four years later God rest his soul. That proves it right there.

Can we name a ship the USS George Soros?

      • allen

probably, but are there any nazi ships left to sink? I’m sure the navy needs target ships.

        • sb

Oh, you mean it’s bad luck for the ship. I thought you meant it was bad luck for the person. (See Rad Mod’s post below.)

  • You may not like her, but she got shot in the head… and survived.

so? there are MOH recipients that got shot in the head that did a lot more, and get a lot less.

I’d rather see another USS Marvin Sheilds. my dad new him, and we gave the ship named after him away to the mexican navy.

Again, what has she DONE to warrant such a honor, Timothy? Allen has the right of it from my point of view – an MOH should be more highly honored than she.

Leftists don’t understand what the word “do” means. Remember how they respond when asked what Hillary did.

        • granitegrok

She boasted that one of her achievements was to fly a million miles. I’ve flown over 1/2 a million – big deal. You know what that means?

You’re not home a lot and away from your family. This is something to boast about?

      • Radical Moderate

Again, what has she DONE to warrant such a honor, Timothy?
Why she’s a woman of course. As Hillary has stated time and time again, that qualifies as an achievement in and of itself

As a Navy veteran (1975-1981), I was aghast when I realized this was not a joke concocted by some satirical paper such as The Onion. I feel embarrassed for any Constitution loving Sailor or Officer that has to serve aboard that vessel. We as a nation have fallen so far.

My son is in the Navy and currently stationed out in San Diego. I had the exact same thought, however I expect his response would be something along the lines of “It doesn’t matter what the ship’s name is, it matters that we do what we signed on to do.” He is a rather pragmatic boy.

Sounds like a good man sb, nice job! 🙂

Among Sailors, there is a lot of pride that goes with what ship/s you served on. I was on both the USS Forrestal and USS Nimitz and very proud of those carriers and that I was able to have served on them. I would not feel the same way serving on this ship.
