Ayup, those Govt schools are just bang-up, eh?

SchoolhouseThis is a VERY sad story because, as Progressives are screaming at us for disobeying ANYTHING against the Prog line, “it’s for the children”!  And because it is IFTC, how DARE you even speak!  So what is the way to get their attention?  Yeah, show them the results of their policies – and nothing says Democrat control than Baltimore (or pretty much any other large urban city). Emphasis mine:

Six schools in Baltimore have exactly zero students who are proficient in math and English.

WBFF reports Project Baltimore led an investigation and discovered five Baltimore City high schools, along with one middle school, do not have any students who scored high enough to be deemed “proficient” in math and English on state testing.

Not one?  Wait – the news gets worse!

WBFF notes Baltimore City Schools spends $16,000 per student per year, making it the fourth highest spending district in the country per student.

Taxpayers would be getting more benefit for their dollars by lighting them on fire and having a BBQ with them.  Figure 20 kids per class – that’s $320 per year per class.  That’s not a small amount of money – and many private schools, especially Charters and parochial schools, easily beat that for much less than half that price.

Look, education is nothing special in that Government has to provide it.  This whole thing from Progressives (reminder: incremental Socialists) about providing “normalization” for everyone is a crock – I want my kid educated and not just in a classroom with everyone else just because SOCIETY.  I think most other parents feel the same.  The problem with a near monopoly is that they use “it’s for the children” as a cudgel.

But how CAN they defend that NO student was proficient and still say that no money should be taken away from the Govt system?  In fact, the costs ALWAYS are ratcheting upward – and as we see here, regardless of results.  But again, that’s what unions are all about: rent-seeking without results.  But perhaps some of the Baltimore parents are starting to catch on as to WHOM the problem is:

Navon Warren, a student at Frederick Douglass, said he believes students were not proficient because teachers are not teaching at the same level as the tests.

Warren’s mother blamed the teachers. “That’s your teacher’s report card. How is it that not one child passed? That makes no sense,” she asked.

Dang straight.  Can’t tell you how many times that I’ve heard that its the students’ fault, not ours.  And more and more, I’m hearing that it is the parents fault in that they aren’t sufficiently involved…ntil they are and then they are resented and are told they are the problem.

But ask yourself – when do the public school system Administrators and teachers ever stand up and take REAL responsibility and give back to the taxpayers for not meeting their standards (e.g., Johnny can read and Janie can do math)?
