“According to the school ranking website Niche.com, the Central Islip Public School District has a C- rating in academics.”

SchoolhouseReports like this ought to have taxpayers OUTRAGED – and if you don’t live there, you STILL should be putting your School Board AND the local teachers’ union under the microscope and lots and lots of Letters to your local publications.  And get into a position where you can start watching over or developing their budgets:

Public school teachers in New York state are increasingly pulling in six-figure taxpayer-funded salaries with generous benefits packages, with some educators in one Long Island school district making an average of $161,000 per year, according to a new report.

The 534 educators who worked in the Central Islip Public Schools District earned a collective total of more than $64 million, around $121,261 a teacher, not including benefits, for the 2015-2016 school year, according to a report from the Education Action Group.

These teachers also made an additional $12,897,342 in benefits, with each teacher making an average of $24,152 in benefits. The compensation package does not end there for Central Islip’s teachers–the school district contributed a total of $8,566,330 to teachers’ retirement funds, spending an average of $16,041 per teacher.

Start asking questions like:

  • What is your ratio of indirect to direct labor costs with respect to classroom instruction?
  • What is the overhead headcount – and their costs?
  • What is the median cost per teacher – and what is the median family income of your town or city?

Remember, this is why Freedom of Information Act demands exist (FOIA – the name may vary based on where you live; here in NH, it’s an RTK or Right To Know).

And these government workers have the chutzpah to say they are underpaid?  We hear about Crony Capitalism all the time, that the Progressive / Socialists are always kvetching how EVIL capitalism and never talk about that capitalism is VOLUNTRY.  They never say that their “business” isn’t.

Yet, how is this not evil?

And WHO is authorizing these contracts that redistribute the taxpayers’ wealth on a regular basis without any accountability?
