Michelle Obama is having a sad because we decided her school lunch program were bad

Compare this:

with this as the Trump Administration is relaxing the overbearing rules set by Michelle’s “you will eat what I tell you to eat” school lunch program:

“We gotta make sure we don’t let anybody take us back, because the question is, where are we going back to? This is where you really have to look at motives. You really have to stop and think. Why don’t you want our kids to have good food at school? What is wrong with you?  “Think about why someone is okay with your kids eating crap? Why would you celebrate that? If somebody is doing that, they don’t care about your kid.”

“Because here’s the secret: If somebody is doing that, they don’t care about your kid, and we need to demand everyone to care deeply about our kids,”

-Michelle Obama

Yeah, more of the “All Republicans want you all to DIE!” talk.  For Progressives, this is their outlook – they can do no wrong.  They believe it and swear by it.  And we all know why – they refuse to revisit their programs and objectively review whether their programs actually hit their mark (well, they can ALWAYS hit the mark because they hardly ever have hard and fast measurements to determine that.  Look at Obamacare and look at the ruin it has brought to American healthcare for anyone that isn’t immensely rich or isn’t receiving huge subsidies to pay for their premiums (it’s always nice to get a free ride).  Once enacted, they should NEVER be inspected or analyzed.  Just look at the vitriol over removing Government control of said healthcare.

Same by Michelle over her pet project”; this was noted by Big Government:

Nowhere in the discussion did Obama note that it is the role of parents to guide their children’s eating habits, not that of the government.

People hate it when their pet project(s) get trashed.  What Michelle didn’t want to acknowledge is that her mandate made from DC that students were trashing her food ideas.  In fact, she’s rather irate (but not quite to the level of this lady) but this headline from Townhall says it all:

Hey Michelle – Making School Lunches “Healthy” Isn’t an Accomplishment if No One Eats Them

And that’s the problem – few wanted to eat what this (thankfully, now former) First Lady of Food Scold was forcing the “lunch ladies” to serve – and quickly got literally trashed by the kids.  Oh, those rebellious kids who started the hashtag #ThanksMichelleObama and took pictures of their meals.  In fact, we’ve written a lot about this and it comes down to the Left / Right or Progressive / Conservative divide: What matters most – “good” intentions or good results”?  Sure, perhaps she had good intentions but the typical Progressive chain of process has played out again:

  • A “good” idea born of “good” intentions
  • No realization that those intentions may not be shared by all
  • Lots of micromanagement law, rules and regulations issue forth
  • Those that have to carry them out aren’t happy
  • Those that have to bear the brunt of someone else’s “good idea” hate it
  • No accountability for either the front end or the actual results.
  • You know, like Headstart – good intentions, billions spent, no measurable long term “good” results

It is what happens when Progressives either forget or ignore (the latter is more like it) that the best governance is that which has the lightest hand and is the most local.  They love one size-fits-all which is the only way they know how to rule govern as they always want to centralize everything as high a level of government control as possible (which may well doom this idea as well as it decentralizes DC’s power).

And it should die:

1. School cafeterias are losing money with the program
2. Kids dropped out of the school lunch program after implementation of the new standards
3. Kids are not eating the food and why should they? It’s disgusting.

Sonny Perdue, Trump’s new Secretary of Agriculture, puts it well:

“If kids aren’t eating the food, and it’s ending up in the trash, they aren’t getting any nutrition – thus undermining the intent of the program.”

Social program intentions are insufficient – it is results that count.  Or should.
