Heartburn for the illegal immigrant apologists – guess what Sessions is now making a FELONY!!! Yee Hah!

illegal alien signI am so tired of hearing the “let them break our immigration law” musty heads mantra on “it is not illegal to be here, it’s only illegal to enter without documentation”.  Well GUESS WHAT!  New US Attorney General Jeff Session has been making that into the dust it always deserved – and now is doubling, TRIPLING down on the Rule of Law and do what the last two Presidents refused to do and actually enforce the law with this:

Sessions Announces Illegal Aliens Who Illegally Re-Enter The U.S. Will Be Charged With a Felony

Well, that pretty much takes that argument away from those that have refused to see that adhering to The Rule of Law is part of the American Exceptionalism philosophy that NO ONE is above or beyond the law. Emphasis mine:

Speaking from the U.S.-Mexico border in Nogales, Arizona Tuesday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced major changes to Justice Department protocol when it comes to charging and prosecuting illegal aliens.

“For those that continue to seek improper and illegal entry into this country, be forewarned:  This is a new era.  This is the Trump era.  The lawlessness, the abdication of the duty to enforce our immigration laws and the catch and release practices of old are over,” Sessions said.

Details?  BOOM!

Starting today, federal prosecutors are now required to consider for prosecution all of the following offenses:

  • The transportation or harboring of aliens. As you know too well, this is a booming business down here. No more. We are going to shut down and jail those who have been profiting off this lawlessness — people smuggling gang members across the border, helping convicted criminals re-enter this country and preying on those who don’t know how dangerous the journey can be.
  • Further, where an alien has unlawfully entered the country, which is a misdemeanor, that alien will now be charged with a felony if they unlawfully enter or attempt enter a second time and certain aggravating circumstances are present.
  • Also, aliens that illegally re-enter the country after prior removal will be referred for felony prosecution — and a priority will be given to such offenses, especially where indicators of gang affiliation, a risk to public safety or criminal history are present.
  • Fourth: where possible, prosecutors are directed to charge criminal aliens with document fraud and aggravated identity theft — the latter carrying a two-year mandatory minimum sentence.

A few thoughts:

  • To that last one – so many illegal-alien-lovers have always seemed to skip over the identity theft part of this whole 16 year farce – crimes have been committed but eyes (especially that of the Law) have been averted.  Illegals have been given the “benefit” while legal Americans have had their financial and legal lives wrecked.  What a deal – Americans becoming “collateral damage” for the sake of those that should not be here.
  • “Harboring of aliens” – while I bet a lot of this will be targeting human trafficing, couldn’t this also be applied to “Sanctuary” whatevers?  Especially those elected and appointed officials who set up programs to harbor illegal aliens (like Boston Mayor Marty Walsh who has said that he’d turn City Hall into a hostel for illegal immigrants)?  Let see how that works out when it gets REAL person and its YOU and your FAMILY that pay the price instead of your use of other peoples’s money?
  • I’ve always thought that those that come and break our laws shouldn’t just be deported when they get caught.  Spending time in Jail, especially for the MS-13 and the Kate Steinle killer, ought to rot and lose their liberties first – then return them to the countries of their origin.  And if those countries object, start reducing the aid we give them by the amount it costs us to have them in jail.  Gee, incentives all the way around!

Now if they’ll only point the Law to other places, like  “Lock her up“…
