This proves two things about Socialism and Environmentalism

Pink FlamingosVenezuela is a basket case from every view you can take – except if you are a Socialist.  Those folks don’t even want to look in that direction and do you EVER hear them talking about how GREAT Venezuela is?  This headline and article doesn’t help and it should give both Socialists and Environmentalists (but I repeat myself) a big cause for reflection and introspection (yeah, I know, I know):

Venezuelans eating cats, dogs, donkeys, horses and even pink flamingos to survive

Biology student Luis Sibira stumbled across the first set of gory remains last November: eight pink flamingos, their breasts and torsos sliced out, leaving their heads, spindly legs and vivid feathers scattered across the marshy ground at Las Peonias Lagoon in western Venezuela…

But this isn’t simple poaching, he said. Sibira and other investigators from Zulia University, a public university in Maracaibo, are convinced that the protected birds have become the latest victims of Venezuela’s growing hunger crisis. People have become so desperate, he said, that they are butchering and eating flamingos.

There are other signs that food shortages have led to the slaughtering of animals not generally considered meat: giant anteaters, for one…

In the city’s dump, more evidence of hunger-driven desperation: dismembered dogs, cats, donkeys, horses and pigeons have been found since last year, all skinned or plucked, with signs of having been eaten, according to the city’s garbage teams.

Point One – one that most people (EXCEPT for Socialists) can agree with is that Socialism ALWAYS ends in failure with Venezuela just the current example.  Same thing happened in the Soviet Union when it failed (along with its satellite countries).  China realized that a strict adherence to Communism (Socialism on steroids) couldn’t be “sustained” (heh! Just couldn’t resist throwing that in for the Watermelon Socialists).  Ditto Viet Nam, for another example.  We could also go looking at Europe at the “Social Democrat” socialist countries, while more democratic, still have lesser standards of living than we do.  That’s what happens with a “Government directed Economy” instead of a “Free Choice / Free Market Economy”.

Point Two – Environmentalism (the true kind and not the aforementioned Watermelon kind) requires a wealthy country in order to work.  We here in the US have been able to pay for the cleanups and the high amount of regulations that we have now.  Go ahead, try doing the same thing in a poor country – they’ll laugh at you.  The Soviet Union was a “super power” militarily but poor from an economic standpoint.  As much as environmentalists keep carping about how bad we’ve been, we aren’t even close to what the Soviets did to their own lands – China now has the same problems.

Yet, even with the evidence, Socialists and Environmentalists (but again, I repeat myself) are all too willing to shove us down that same road to misery.  Why?  Simple – the Power to control others.  Oh, they always have a “good” reason as to why we are knuckedraggers for not handing over more and more control of our lives to Government i.e., “it is BETTER for you and the Community“).

Yeah, how’d that work out for the ordinary Venezuelans, eh?

BTW, what kind of sauce do you use with pink flamingo?  Or is it just a case of keeping dirt off the meat?
