Cleaning House at the US State Department

US State Tillerson Housecleaning - Steve MacDonaldThis should serve as a warning to every bureaucrat and political class flunky. Mr. Trump’s Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, is cleaning house.

(CBS) Much of seventh-floor staff, who work for the Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources and the Counselor offices, were told today that their services were no longer needed.

This is after all political appointees were told to submit their resignations. So it’s a good start.

And no, the meat-puppets in the political class are not happy at all.

“It is irresponsible to let qualified, nonpartisan, experienced people go before you have any idea of their replacement. You can’t do foreign policy by sitting in the White House, just out of your back pocket,” explains Tom Countryman, Former Assistant Secetary for Non-Proliferation who was let go earlier this month.

Tom Countryman’s only large dollar campaign contribution was $754.00 to Obama/Biden in 2012, so his “experience” with the notion of “qualified” or “non-partisan” people, is a bit tainted. These are partisan hacks feeding off a bloated budget.

In 2007 the Department of State was operating on $10 Billion a year including refugee spending. Under Obama/Clinton/Kerry the requested allocation for State had ballooned to over $60 billion a year.

The impetus to continue that sort of fiscal malfeasance begins and ends with the seventh floor. These are Clinton and Obama lackeys who will whine about budget cuts or even compromise security by leaking who knows what to the progressive press to “get even.”

And if we’re being honest, more than a few of them probably had no experience just like their Boss.  And with any luck, the other floors at State (and every other department) will get the same much-needed enema.

Staffers and career bureaucrats are the single biggest poison in government. They are a virus whose only purpose is to further infect the host. And nothing says “staff’ infection like a 600% increase in the budget of one department in a handful of years.

I can’t wait to see who is next.
