Oakland Schools have partnered with Social Justice Enviro Wacko Group Friends of the Earth (FOE) to promote the Green Agenda™ through the lunch menu.
FOE gave kids a lunch menu designed to eliminate foods it says are “unsustainable for our planet.” The new menu features far less meat and more plant-based food. Any meat or cheese the school did use came from “pastured, organic dairy cows.” The student’s lunch menu went from beef hot dogs and pepperoni pizza to vegan stir fry tofu and vegan tostadas. The new FOE-approved menu served meat and cheese-less frequently and reduced the portion sizes.
Who are the Friends of the Earth? FOE is just another environmental bag of cats using the color green to advance the left’s progressive world order.
FOE maintains that “safeguarding the planet and its resources” is “intrinsically connected to the global struggle for social and economic justice,” commodities that allegedly are threatened by “the powerful” who “continue to pillage the planet.” Along these lines, FOE has drafted an Anti-Oppression Statement asserting that: “all forms of life on earth are sacred and interconnected”; “all systems of oppression [are] interrelated”; and “racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, religious discrimination and all other forms of oppression affect and implicate each of us.” Further, the Statement demands special protections for “historically marginalized and oppressed people, including youth, women, queer folks, and people of color.” These groups, says FOE, are routinely “targeted by polluting industries and others who harm the environment for profit.”
Who among us is surprised?
I won’t go after all their claims, but we can pluck the lowest hanging fruit. Less “meat” is not necessarily better. If you are active or an athlete you need more protein than the veg-o-magic menu may provide. I don’t know if you can pack-in beef jerky, or whatever, but given recent public school climate control surrounding food, sneaking in jerky and cocaine could warrant similar treatment.
Whatever you don’t show up anywhere but the staff lounge with donuts.
The ‘plan’ also claims to save water and energy and money but given that the entire exercise is predicated on denying plants airborne fertilizer based on spurious and unsubstantiated political claims about the impact of carbon dioxide on global weather I doubt any of that stands up to scrutiny. This sounds like the government-run propaganda mill letting an NGO use kids stomachs to promote a shared environmental agenda.
It’s a popular venue.
Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move lunchtastrophy was what some extra special folks in far off DC thought other people’s children should eat. (Search GraniteGrok for School Lunch for a ‘taste’ of how that went). The FOE menu, with or without the exaggerated and unsubstantiated claims, sounds like more of the same.
