Bias in journalism much?

Normally I do like the Daily Mail, a UK newspaper, as it reports on a lot of items that the US MSM won’t – and if the MSM does, the Daily Mail generally has more facts and less political correctness than its American brethren.  This time, not so much.

SHOT:

The not-for-profit American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has seen membership and donations soar since the White House’s executive order on migration blocking travel for citizens of seven mainly Muslim countries.  As the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) closes in on migrants, the group is launching a special unit to make sure those facing deportation are given access to counsel immediately.

More than 160 foreign nationals were detained in Los Angeles alone last week, according to ABC, but ICE Field Office Director David Marin said they were nothing our of the ordinary.

CHASER:

U.S. immigration officials in the greater Los Angeles area arrested around 160 individuals in the past week in what a spokesman affirmed were “routine” immigration enforcement actions. The majority were male, according to the Washington Post, and the enforcement actions targeted criminal illegal aliens.

Foreign nationals – the Daily Mail makes it seem that these folks were here just for a stroll – a visit so it were.  And like Zandra Rice-Hawkins, the use of the common language gets distorted.  Sure, they are “foreign nationals” – as in citizens of countries other than the US.

Criminal illegal aliens – a much more specific and descriptive phrase that states what it really was happening.  Most of those rounded up were felons and previously deported scofflaws.  Are these the people we really want here in the US?

Democrats and their allies in the MSM, desperately trying to establish a more Open Borders / Progressive narrative, would answer “yes”.

And they wonder why they’ve lost the heartland?
