Quick thoughts – inauguration of President Donald Trump

I watched the concert last night – wasn’t surprised that the “A-Listers” of Hollywood and the entertainment industry decided to “teach him a lesson” by boycotting it.  However, I think their actions accomplished two things that they didn’t intend to:

  • They showed their snobbish and haughtiness towards those of us rubes and flyovers – who, incidentally, are the ones that give them their great wealth (and privilege) by consuming their products.  Or in the case of many, not doing so.
  • With the above, they once again confirmed why Trump supporters voted for The Donald President Trump – these self-absorbed rump sniffers are part of that reason.

It wasn’t the best of concerts – until the very end.  The last part was the best and was quite well done political stagecraft with the US Army band and chorus singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic in front of the Lincoln Monument and various members of the military with flags making a “V” (wide to narrow) with the Trump family ascending the stairs to fill the space that was between two of the columns right in front of the seated Abe. I wish I could find an image that actually shows as my description falls flat here – here’s the best I can find and I wish it had been a much wider shot:

While I bet it was well choreographed in detail, when the song was over, the Trump family turned and approached the statue.  It was then I think Trump realized what was about to happen in a few hours and while he can be rather stone-faced, I thought I saw a weight fall onto his shoulders.

Man, every time a camera landed on Hillary, I did have to feel for her.  That must have been tough.  All politics aside, she’s now tried for the gold medal of American politics and failed – and there is no silver or bronze to settle for.  Frankly, I was surprised that she held it together during the inauguration ceremony.

Angriest and pettiest?  Hands down, Moochella.  While there were times when she was smiling, there were a lot of times you could see the anger in her face.  Right from the get-go, it was clear that she wasn’t happy with the new occupants of the White House as she snubbed and showed poor form as Melania Trump tried to give her a present after the Trumps were driven up to the White House:
