Dr. Bjorn Lomborg on UN Climate Treaty – extremely little bang for Trillions of dollars spent

Statistician: UN climate treaty will cost $100 trillion – To Have No Impact – Postpone warming by less than four years by 2100

Bjorn LomborgEr, why?  Economists (and families around the kitchen table) know something that politicians don’t* – cost/benefit analysis count.  Real ones, that is and not just the “made it up for the agenda” purpose.  Lomborg has taken it on the chin for years on climate change – he believes it is and Man may have something to do with it.  His believes, however, that it would be cheaper not to do what the greenies want but other things would have a bigger effect worldwide.  It’s the “opportunity cost” – what is the cost of the thing that you don’t do when you are doing this other thing.  That said, this will STILL get the climatistas’ panties in a wad over this ROI (Return On Investment) statement (emphasis mine):

Danish statistician Dr. Bjorn Lomborg, the President of the Copenhagen Consensus Center: ‘We will spend at least one hundred trillion dollars in order to reduce the temperature by the end of the century by a grand total of three tenths of one degree…the equivalent of postponing warming by less than four years…Again, that is using the UN’s own climate prediction model.’

I could think of a LOT of things that could be done to protect the poor – which is oft said is the reason by greenies to tax the rest of us, well, 100,000,000,000,000.  To put that into context, that would be the equivalent of the entire US GDP – for 5.2 years.  Every. Single. Penny.  Nothing for me, nothing for you.  How long could you not eat?

And of course I have my doubts that ANYone or ANY entity can even predict what our reality will be just a decade from now – forget a 100 years. Lomborg continues:

‘If the U.S. delivers for the whole century on the President Obama’s very ambitious rhetoric, it would postpone global warming by about eight months at the end of the century.’

Are you willing to trade your standard of living for that entire time for a very short 8 months?

‘But here is the biggest problem: These miniscule benefits do not come free — quite the contrary. The cost of the UN Paris climate pact is likely to run 1 to 2 trillion dollars every year.’

And you know that they are coming for US pockets – after all, just like the socialist Progressives coming after the rich in this country, America is the top 1% to the world.  The UN is ALL about not just the money but the Power.

*-Don’t know, hide that they do, or believe it is a feature and not a bug.
