Remember When the Electoral College Was Great…Back on November 7th, 2016

The Electoral College was great with pre-election predictions like this…

You can’t get much further to the left than MorOn.org. They backed Bernie Sanders. They lamented the hijinks and backroom fixers that denied their candidate of choice for the Democrat Party nomination. But, in the end, they organized for Clinton. They pounded the pre-election pavement for the Hill-da-Beast because cheating is a virtue on the left whose rewards are the progress of progressivism.

But the predictions were not even close. Hillary, Obama’s legacy, the entire progressive experiment, everything the morons at MorOn.org believe got shown the door up and down the ballot. How could people who were so convinced they were so right be so rejected by so many in a majority of sovereign states?

Rather than admit the possibility that their priorities are not universally adored or that the Democrat agenda is flawed, it is always easier to blame the mechanics that denied you your inevitable victory. The ones you loved when they cried Clinton Landslide just moments before the reality of a humiliating defeat.

So, MorOn.org has lined up with the other leftist stooges seeking support to ban the Electoral College because (if we’re being honest) what good is stealing thousands of votes in key swing states if they don’t end up counting for anything?

It would be much easier just to steal twice as many wherever they want, like Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, or California, where big Democrat cities (and their graveyards), are filled with Democrat votes ripe for the casting and re-casting.

To do that you need to ban the thing. The Electoral College has to go.  Like the Senate filibuster before that or the 60 vote requirement on ‘certain’ things, all thanks to Harry Reid and the Democrat compulsion to change the rules for themselves without considering how that might come back to bite them in the ideological butt-cheeks down the road.

Remember, “they deserve an up or down vote?”

Here we see the arrogance of the left, embracing the imperial presidency, and it’s sycophant legislature, rolled up in those predictions of inevitability. There wasn’t supposed to be a down the road for the Republicans except as dhimmis with a seat at the table, and only then at the kiddie table. It was gun-free zones from sea-to-shining-sea and union controlled government central planners for all the progressive bitches.

Constitutions are archaic constructions meant to limit other people’s power.

That’s not to say that the soft-underbelly Republicans can be counted on to mimic the scorched earth tactics of the left to advance a more conservative agenda. Lord knows we’ve watched for six years as Republican congressional victories amounted to nothing. But the left sowed their seeds in the desperate attempt to change America into another declining Western Democracy. They demanded an end to the filibuster. They demanded executive orders from King Barack to fix what they saw as broken. They demanded we ignore the foundational constraints on abuse of government power all in the name of advancing their priorities.

What if, fingers crossed, the Trump Republican majorities did that too? President Trump could ask, the House and Senate could say sure and point to Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Barack Obama for precedent.

Democrats, being Democrats, would (will) caterwaul, cry and whine, even riot so why not give them something to protest using what they demanded Americans accept when it appeared as if the outcome was one Democrats desired? The things for which they claimed they had a mandate.

Which brings me back to where I started.

When it comes to the banning of the Electoral College, it is all piss and wind. A distraction from the unpleasant no-safe-space-to-hide-from reality that a majority of states reject their candidates, policies, and priorities, and that this is still a representative Republic where the States still have a right to disagree with the minority party and its majority attitude problem.

Next week it will be something else, and on and on ad nauseam forever and ever, because Democrats may be losing left and right but they still have gobs of money to pay activists and so-called non-profits to bitch about it and they will spend it to be heard (even though money is not speech).

Your job, our job, is to shine a light on it (the media won’t), and enjoy the show.

*btw- if you’d like a laugh this page has pre-election electoral map result projections for 2016. You know, pre Nov. 8th, 2016. When the electoral college so proved the inevitability of Hillary Clinton’s coronation that Republicans shouldn’t even bother showing up to vote. (Even FOX had Hillary winning as of Nov. 7th.)
